Stayed for a week in early October, 2022. We tried ‘East McKee’ first (first night in the dark), but an early morning reconnaissance mission the next morning showed us that this location was nicer (to us at least).
Our list of ‘wants’ included: good AT&T service (for wife’s remote work), good location (mid-way between the Gorge and the town of Vernal), great views, and a safe feel. This location ticked all the boxes. Solid 4 bars of AT&T signal.
As other reviewers have mentioned, there does seem to be some semi-full-time occupants… mostly hunters and OHV folk. Besides us, a few others came and went during the week. We ended up waving to most, and talking to several. Everyone seemed friendly and respectful.
Great boondocking location if you’re looking to spend time in this awesome corner of Utah.
One last tip: Do NOT miss the Geological Loop drive. Unbelievable rock formations!!!

There is a lower loop labeled 08 that go into the trees some. It is very peaceful there but loooks as thought it could get very wet if it rains
Finding a spot may be difficult as it seems many people in Utah leave their rigs all summer to hold their spots.
Very poor Verizon coverage but 4 bars of AT&T 4G

Located near the Highline Trailhead, I stayed here mainly as a higher and cooler location from which to explore Flaming Gorge Resevoir. Obviously, this would be a great location for those hiking the trail. There were several big rigs camped off the loop road marked by the coordinates. I camped in a van just past the Highline TH. This location didn’t get the OHV use some locations on the other side of the highway did. There was a pit toilet located at the trailhead.
Views were decent but not spectacular. All in all not bad for for dispersed camping.
I did have a reasonable Verizon connection but unfortunately I didn’t note specifically how strong it was. I’d give it a 3+/5 based in my two nights. I would stay here again.
RAM would stay here again
