We were a bit nervous not knowing if we’d find a spot here at the end of summer, but there were 2-3 spots open when we arrived. We came in early on a Sunday afternoon though and by the late afternoon the rest of the spots were taken.
They have electric at each of the main campsites, water spigots throughout the campground and a dump station. It is a self-registration campground, so you would pick a spot, then go up to the kiosk to make out a check and put it in an envelope to place in a drop spot.
The sites are long enough for our 40′ fifth wheel with out truck turned sideways when parked.
They do have an overflow area if all the spots are taken. There aren’t any hookups, but there were plenty of spots open on the grassy area to the east and those sites overlook the lake.
The campground is next to Lake Superior and even has a playground and small beach for swimming.
The best part that we enjoyed was the artisanal spring water when you first come in. Best water I’ve ever tasted! People would drive up in their cars to fill water bottles. It just free flows out of an above ground pipe.
There’s a bathhouse with toilets and two shower stalls. There’s a rack for firewood and a wagon to pull it to your site.
We got 26 down/10 up on Starlink. 3 bars on the Verizon phones and 5 bars with the cell antenna (37/14). AT&T was 3 bars (11/3) with the cell antenna.

We happened upon the last spot at 11:00 on a Friday, which turned out to be a premium site at $35. The remaining sites that were not taken by seasonal folks, were $27 and then there was an overflow area for $20 (this too was full early on Friday, but cleared out on Sunday). There is also weekly rates, which worked out to be one "free" night if you stay the week. Lots of people opted for the weekly stay, but there was plenty turnover each day.
Lots of grass and lots of sun, perfect for our fall stay. Sites were "large", open, long, Big Rig friendly and level. Walking trails started and went through the property. There is a boat launch, day use area, dump station, spring water, camp host and wood for sale.
We used the local laundromat, drank a beer at the local brewery and explored the Apostle Islands in Bayfield during our time here.

We stayed here for a night while exploring the Apostle Islands. Simple county park, easy check-in process.
It’s all walk-ins- a lot of seasonal campers there, but there were a number of open spots. Almost no shaded spots. Great wooden playground and beach with a nature trail. Definitely would stay here again if we come back!

This is a well-maintained campground that is along the shore of Lake Superior's Chequamagon Bay. While no sites are directly on the water, the premium row does have a clear view and it's just a minute walk to the beach area. It's also a quick walk to Washburn's Business District. Have a beer the South Shore Brewery or lunch at Cafe Coco. If you're a ORV rider, it's right along a trail and of course for kayakers, you can launch right there and it's a 1.5 mile paddle to a few sea caves. So much to do is convenient to this location.
Most of the sites here are back in and they are huge. That's a good thing because many campers bring their boats with them. But you still won't feel crowded because of the size of the sites. The sites have gravel pads and the remainder is lush well-manicured grass. There are a few trees, but don't count on much shade. Fortunately, the breeze off the lake will keep you cool. The sites have 50/30/20 electric, however water is not at the campsites. There are spigots scattered throughout the park. Oddly enough there is not fresh potable water conveniently located at the dump station.
The park is first-come first-served and does not have a stay limit. So there are a good number of people who summer here. However, we noticed movement in and out of the park everyday when we were here in mid-July/early August. But those sites were generally taken by late afternoon. So I would recommend planning ahead.
If I were going to criticize one thing it would be the camp hosts. They were invisible during the three weeks I was there. Fortunately the only real issues were a few loose dogs and the occasional overuse of a site (four vehicles, two boats, and a fifth wheel in one instance! It doesn't matter how big the site is with that crew.).

Return the envelope with your payment for the number of nights into the deposit slip and go set up camp. It is a peaceful area that gives you ample camping space right on the banks of Lake Superior. You do get slight noise from the nearby freeway but its not too disturbing. I am working from home during the pandemic which made it important for me to find a place with WiFi and this campground has it. It is open so no password is needed. Even without WiFi I have bars on my phone and access to my data.
The cons for my stay is the construction happening on the dock area which makes taking my son out to fish difficult. The showers are also out of order. Other than that, I am pleased with West End.

Well kept and clean campground. Hot shower (ladies use far shower- was told that gave the hottest water). Water and 30/50 amp service at sites. Cable too but we did not use it. Dump station easy to access. Artesian well. Nearby walking trails, boat launch. Pretty views.
Would definitely stay here again but would try to get sites 36-44 for first row view of Lake Superior. Just choose empty site then go register.

Nice shower house but it’s $.75 to take a 3-minute shower. Free internet and free cable. Has a maintained trail right along the shoreline. A great plus is the free artesian water flowing at the park. Washburn residents come and fill up their water bottles. It has electric-only sites with 20-30-50 amps. No water or sewer at site. Has a dump station and water spigot to fill up water tank.

This is a first come, first served campground. Choose your site, then pay at the pay station. Suggest disconnecting tow vehicle and "scouting" sites & campground layout before taking RV in. We unhooked our tow by the pay station upon entering the campground. Sites are spacious; however, many sites are low in front and high(er) in back. We are a 40' motorhome. We first tried site 13, but our front wheels would have been off the ground. I believe site 13 would be fine for smaller RVs. Site 18 was much better for us and we leveled with very little difficulty. We were able to park our car horizontally in the space. There is electric only at the sites (50 & 30 amps). There is an artesian well, but you can fill jugs only at the artesian well. Spigots in the campground are city water. There is one water spigot across from site 18 (pull into road opposite and it's in site 19) and one near site 29 (near dump station). You can access both water spigots from the center road of the loop. There is a spigot at each end of the road. Sites are gravel/grass, although some appear to have more grass than others. Interior roads are paved. We didn't have any problems maneuvering, but the interior roads seemed a bit narrow. The roads through the park are one way, but folks were going both directions. The road isn't wide enough for two RVs to pass each other going in opposite directions. There isn't a dedicated pet area, but there is plenty of space to walk pets. We had 8 OTA channels. We had 1 bar on Verizon. Even with our booster it was between 1 and 2 bars. We took the outer loop in order to go to the dump station. There are some trees on the outer loop that need to be trimmed for taller RVs to pass. There is an overflow lot in the event all campsites are occupied. We would stay again if passing through the area.
