Tucked away in the woods a couple miles from the dunes, this is a pleasant place to spend some time if you are set up for dry camping. Do note, there is NO dump station, and their water spigots warned the water was potentially not potable, so go prepared. There are flush toilets, no showers. Getting into the campground was easy enough, the sign off 101 is clearly marked. The road in is narrow and windy and the descent in the first few hundred yards a bit daunting, but turned out fine. Getting AROUND the campground is a little tight, particularly in the first loop. The road is narrow, with brush and bushes right up close to the road. The sites are likewise a bit hit or miss, some are reasonably level, some are pitted and broken, all are asphalt. The pull through sites are also kinda wonky in that the curve is tight in some of them. We were in site #6, and getting our 32 foot trailer in the space took some careful maneuvering so as not to scrape or come off the pavement.
There was cell signal, although rather weak. Also, while the tree cover is very nice, it often blocks the solar panels. Overall it was quiet, lovely, and the brush, bush and tree cover all around provided a nice sense of privacy. You can hear the ocean, even if you can’t see it or get to it.

However, nice place. Lagoon, Suislaw river mouth, and the ocean to explore within a 1/2 mile level walk/bike. Just enough cell service to stream if not in a hurry. My site had good solar exposure. Some spots are not easy to back a trailer into. Most spots with privacy. The usual generator noise.

Nice campsite, lots of privacy, although it's almost like the campsites are getting a little overgrown.
ORV Park near by, most users seem to be here for that with toys. Some sound off the beach as a result, quiet otherwise.

I so ook forward to coming back to this campground. It’s situated by the Siltcoos River and about a mile from the ocean. It gets busy on the weekend but is quite quiet during the week. The $11 fee was with my discount - regular price is $22.
There are many trails for hiking, one of which has a spectacular overlook view of the river and ocean together (with benches) - the Waxmyrtle Trail which can be accessed from the front of the campground or by site #16. It’s also accessible from the sandy beach trail which follows the east border of the campground. Across the road there are the Lagoon Trail and Chief Tsiltcoos Trail. Across highway 101 is the Siltcoos Lake Trail for a 3 1/2 mile hike. There are a number of “walk-in” sites available. I recommend going early in the week to get the better sites. Only negative is several site pads are bumpy and not level.
People kayak the river, and fish. There are so many different habitats for birds and wildlife so bird or wildlife watching is very rewarding. I’m a birder and I was thrilled with the variety.
Biking on the roads is fun here and, if you are an experienced mountain biker try the Siltcoos Lake Trail (across 101).
There are OHV opportunities at the beach. Be aware of area restrictions during Snowy Plover nesting season.
There are bathrooms without showers as well as water spigots in several spots. Driftwood II campground’s showers are out of order at this time.

I did not experience a quiet stay. I experienced screaming and crying children and adults who were constantly yelling. I was booked for five days but left after 1 night. AT&T cell service limited to 1 bar. The constant roar of ORV.
Nice surroundings, beach, and trails. The campground host was friendly. I will give it another try.

Our site was level but some of the sites in this park are not as level as I would like. Nice park for bird watching and looking for wildlife. I saw deer every morning and otter once. This Campground is near another campground that is used by four wheelers. The engine sounds could be heard, usually in the early evening. I use Verizon and only got voice service.

And only 7 miles to Florence for all your supplies.

“Terrible!”
noted 7/28/2021
The campground itself is fine - the problem is the noise! From early morning until late at night the quadholes race around the dunes that border the campground. There is a posted limit of 93 db but obviously that limit is NOT enforced. If you're familiar with what a 1000 horsepower Baja race car sounds like then imagine camping right next the race course! Maybe if you could see the race cars it would be entertaining - but in this case you cannot see the source of the noise - you can only suffer it!
