This place is only about 100 yards off of the main road heading to Red Lodge. There were plenty of spaces left when I arrived around 9pm on a Monday evening. As I was sitting in my vehicle searching online to see if there were any campgrounds further down the road the ranger came by and reminded me to pay, so this place is monitored. I had a space close to the river, a fire pit, picnic table, and shade. The restrooms were basic pit toilets, with no sink, and no showers. I don't know if they had water because I didn't try to find any. There weren't too many mosquitos, which is always a plus for me. Probably the biggest thing this site has going for it is that it doesn't require a trip down a gravel road. I would stay again.

There are supposed to be a total of 10 sites.. but not sure how there are 10.. I counted only like 7 for sure places.. (that is place with with picnic table and fire ring) There are a couple place that could be used for parking but did not see table or fire ring.
there are two vault toilets. one on the end to right, and one about half way down on left turn side.
you are not a a great elevation so the temps on mid august of 2020 was WARM during day.. the night get cool which is a help.. Great location to do the BearTooth hwy down to the Dead Indian Hwy to back to Red Lodge area where this campground is located North of..
the "river" is full of very rounded rocks most likely they are what you call "glacier rocks" they were under the hugh ice sheets at are ground down as the glacier receded some millions of years ago.. plus with the fast moving water it help to smooth them down as well.. I am not a geologist but some of the rocks look like granite which is a hard material.. they are rounded and smooth as well.

We felt secure here enough to leave our rig while we did the "loop" mentioned above.
FYI: our ATT service on a netgear Hot spot ( ATT unite pro from 2016 ) with no antenna I was getting like 7.3 meg on Fast and speedtest the number were samish.
on my T mobile phone a samsung glax 8 I was getting 1.5 meg on fast
all in all not bad service from both..
other than the road noise, not really any large truck more cars, motorhomes, pickups pulling campers etc. its not bad.

There are a couple of vault toilets but no other facilities. The fee as of August 2020 was $18 per night without a Montana fishing permit and $12 per night with a fishing permit.
The sound of the creek was perfect but unfortunately all too often drowned out by highway noise.
Verizon service was pretty good.
We stayed here after driving from Yellowstone across the Beartooth Highway with plans to head towards Glacier National Park. It served our purpose perfectly well but I wouldn't stay here for more than 1 night while passing through.
