“Beautiful spot, tight roads & spectacular sunsets”

Reviewed Jul 19, 2017

Overall Rating

This campground is a lovely mix of forest and northwest beaches. The campsites are all in the woods with most being fairly spacious. Our site had water and electric hookups. Most sites are reservable online. The campground loop is narrow and pretty tight with trees. We made it through with our 28' trailer, but got out to spot a couple of corners. The park staff were friendly and circled often to keep an eye on things and offer help as needed.

Site C14 had plenty of room, though we had empty sites on both sides of us through our stay. In June when we stayed it was cool up at the campground in the shade but sunny and warm down at the beach.

There is are trails down to the beach and around the park. The beaches are more or less accessible depending on the tides. At low tide there are tide pools galore as well as a variety of sea life. We saw otters and seals as well as the typical tide pool critters. At sunset the beach is truly spectacular, there is also a grassy bluff with several benches and picnic tables as well.

“Very tight access roads but great location”

Reviewed Dec 31, 2014

Overall Rating

I've stayed at Washington Park since I was a kid and it's our go-to place when we return to the Skagit Valley. Great value, but very rustic. The access road is the limiting feature. If you can negoitate the tight corner heading up the narrow access road into the campground, you're golden. We've never made reservations, and never had an issue finding a space. They finally put a new roof on the restroom this year, displacing the tree that was growing out of the old roof. Very shady. A wonderful loop road with views of Rosario Strait and the San Juans. Weak Verizon signal but usable with antenna and amplifier.

Just Finding Our Way: Anacortes

We had good connectivity at Washington Park BUT I was using our Wilson Sleek 4-V booster and an external antenna on a short mast. Connectivity without was marginal. Another option in Anacortes (no shad...
