“Nice site at the end of the row”

The road into Washington Gulch is paved to the end of the small subdivision by Long Lake. After that it becomes a two lane maintained dirt road that is oiled for dust until the Snodgrass Trailhead. Past this trailhead the road narrows to 1.5 car widths and is very winding. Care should be taken due to blind curves and fast Jeep drivers. It is doable for any large rig if one goes slow. The road at this point is less well cared for but still passable for all rigs. The further back one travels, the worse the road becomes and eventually degrades into 4X4. Note: in early season the road may be blocked by snow or landslides.

All sites in this portion of the valley receive strong winds on most days.

This back in campsite is full sun and is at the end of a row of sites. It is close to the neighbor on one side. A great site for solar or Starlink users. The access road has a sharp turn so larger rigs may need to back into the area to access the site. This site is far enough back that it does not receive much blown dust off the main road. It also has nice views of the valley and Gothic.

This is an incredible dispersed camping area with gorgeous views and quick access to mt crested Butte and crested Butte. You really feel as if you are staying right in town, with views than cannot be beat by any resort in the area.

There are a few areas up this road... The first is a more wooded RV friendly area that is very popular, the second is where the posted coordinates are and has the best views. Just be warned that in both of these areas you will have a lot of neighbors, a lot of passing traffic and, as previous reviewer noted, a LOT of mosquitoes and flies. I won't downplay the epic amount of mosquitoes and flies but if you have an RV you should be fine. Wildflowers everywhere, too.

Past this area the road gets rougher but not impossible for trailers, there are still a few spots left. You just need to be careful going further than the sign and know your own capability. If you are tent camping, I highly recommend you keep going higher up in elevation. It will be cooler but you will not be swarmed by insects.
