Overview of Washington Gulch Designated Dispersed Campsite #1
It is recommend that all vehicles greater than 35-40 ft. do not attempt to drive beyond Rendezvous Meadow: Approx 4.5 miles from Gothic Road as the road becomes very rough, narrows and requires high-clearance 4×4 vehicles

The road into Washington Gulch is paved to the end of the small subdivision by Long Lake. After that it becomes a two lane maintained dirt road that is oiled for dust until the Snodgrass Trailhead. Past this trailhead the road narrows to 1.5 car widths and is very winding. Care should be taken due to blind curves and fast Jeep drivers. It is doable for any large rig if one goes slow. The road at this point is less well cared for but still passable for all rigs. The further back one travels, the worse the road becomes and eventually degrades into 4X4. Note: in early season the road may be blocked by snow or landslides.
This site is full shade and not level as it slopes toward the road. The road becomes very dusty and this site gets dusted out with each passing car. Almost no space between the site and the main road.

Drove up from Denver on a Friday morning and got here at about 1:30pm. Drove around for 4 hours trying to find a spot for our pop camper to no avail. Definitely would have loved to camp here because it was a cool area, but you definitely need to get there on a Thursday to find a spot. Ideal for camping with a tent, RTT, or Sprinter.
jsaffrin would stay here again
