What a beautiful campground! I arrived on a Sunday afternoon in mid-September and there were very few occupied sites. I chose site 26 in the B-loop and there was only 1 other camper within site down the loop road from me. Even if the other sites had been occupied, there was a nice buffer of distance on either side and behind me was just miles of low pine and juniper forest with mountain views. Due to being so late in the season, there was no longer any host, and it appeared that the forest service possibly doesn't get in there daily to remove out-of-date reservation signs from the site posts, since there were many from earlier in the weekend still posted. Campsite structures were obviously relatively new, with long wooden picnic tables, large fire rings, and barbecue grills. The pit toilets were relatively clean and maintained. Walking around to explore, I found lots of amenities in the campground and the group areas as well, like swings and a horse corral. There is an extensive trail system for hiking/riding/mountain biking (but seems geared towards mountain bikes) right from the campground. I will definitely be back for more time here. The only sounds heard was wind in the trees and crickets. Great for star gazing too with a sky unblemished by city lights. The road in from the highway is gravel, but access is very easy. Cell service was solid (T-Mobile).

Water was not working as they are upgrading it so fill before you come. Ely was cute. We’d have liked to spend more time there and visiting the train museum. We loved the nearby Charcoal Ovens. Plenty of stores snd gas nearby. Some easy hiking trails in park. Great Verizon. We were here end of June, not too hot.

This campground was extremely well taken care of. Each site had an almost new looking grill, picnic table, and fire pit. The campsites were spaced nicely. It was only about 1/2 full on a Wednesday. The cost was $12 per night! Very reasonable oh and I had between 2-3 bars with Verizon!

Water is seasonal but the pit toilets are clean even in the off season.
There is no dump station. Closest dump station and water is in Ely,NV.
There are several different type activities at the camp and near by. Hiking, biking and horse trails. Disc golf is across the highway. In the group sites there are volleyball and Horseshoe pits. Groups it's are very good size, clean and functional.
This camp inwas told is only about 10 years old. Not sure what it is like in the peak camping season but the shoulder season is what we look forward to.

Stayed here after traveling from Boise, ID. Clean and quiet. No water, but no camping fees either. Sites were large and well maintained. Would definitely stay again. RVs need to be sure to continue to third loop.

There are 3 loops and for some reason most people were in the first two loops. The 3rd loop is specifically for campers/rvs. We parked it in the 3rd loop (Its on the left). If you have a larger rig I would suggest not attempting to navigate the 1st loop on the right, it was tight for us in a 35 ft travel trailer. The water was not running, but it is currently off season, so no surprise. We got a good amount of sun for our solar needs, There are trails all around, so every walk with the pups was a new adventure. We loved the views of the mountains and stayed for a whole week to enjoy it. The internet (verizon and tmobile) was good enough to work from with video calls. We heard no highway noise from our site. FYI there is not a gas station between Echo Canyon State Park NV and Ely, NV. So be sure to fuel up if you're driving that way.

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend which is early season for this high elevation campground. We had SNOW on our last night there, which they said was unusual but it seemed like the campground never "officially" opens with all services until early June anyway. The area is open year-round due to the immense amount of nordic ski trails directly accessible from the campground.
Pay is a self-serve station. Camp host on-site during the Summer months.
$8/ni cash, no change. About 30% of sites are First Come First Served, so even if there are no sites available online, there's a good chance you can get one first-come.
Great proximity to Ely NV and Cave Lake State Park. We originally planned to stay at Cave Lake State Park but there weren't any spots large enough to accommodate our 40' motorhome. At Ward Mountain however there were large sites, including some pull throughs, and a nice big circle to drive in/out.
Each campsite has a nice new patio/pad, grills, picnic tables, etc. Plenty of space to yourself.
We both work full-time from the RV and had no issues with Wifi/cell signal while camped here.
The hiking and off roading straight from the campground were a plus!
If you'd like to see more about the area including our jeep trip UP Ward Mountain and a quick drive-through of downtown ELY, please watch our youtube video: https://youtu.be/eNB7JnllgiM
