Beautiful location. Good fishing. Quite. No cell service. Walton lake has it all. Reserved and first come, first served sites. Ours was is #6. A pull through with a lake view on the RV side. No hookups but hey. It's camping right? (potable water is available) Not much interaction with the camp hosts except for a friendly wav... more

Walton Lake is a beautiful lake in Crook County and a nice, smaller alternative to the Prineville Reservoir Camp Ground nearby. The lake was calm and clean and good for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, SUPing and fishing. We stayed 4 days in late July. A lake covering about 20 acres was recently stocked with 10” - 12” trout. There is both reserved camping and walkup camping (meaning that they hold some spots for people who show up without reservations). We were on the RV side but the other side is mostly tents. Walton Lake and Painted Hills - Riveted

After we left Detroit Lake we met up with Tiffani and Deke over at Walton Lake Campground in the Ochoco National Forest in Central Oregon. This is a gorgeous little lake with campsites on both sides...
