“Hard Day of Traveling”

Reviewed Jun 24, 2018

Overall Rating

Yesterday was a beast of a trip. The night spent at Walmart in Troy, Alabama was pretty miserable due to the time of year and no A/C. We have opted not to carry a generator with us and therefore we rely on our good instincts to follow the better weather.  We left Florida later than we wanted to because of the garage being built and my quadriceps tendon rupture, therefore the ungodly wet and stifling temperatures. The open windows and fans just could not do enough to keep us from perspiring profusely and having a fitful sleep. More loud and stinking trucks than usual and probably because of the upcoming weekend and the need to stock this mega Walmart to the max. By early morning the trucks were gone and the temperature was tolerable but we needed to get on the road for our next destination up in Rogersville, Alabama.

“So Very Grateful ”

Reviewed Mar 12, 2018

Overall Rating

We drove five and a half hours yesterday which was a bit too long, at least for our first time on expressway and in the pouring rain. It finally cleared up and we exited the freeway south of Montgomery, Alabama. But then we observed as we drove that very little camping is done in this area. There were no suitable spots in which to pull over for the night so we motored on and luckily discovered a Walmart in Troy, Alabama. This was our introduction to boondocking 101. Everything worked fine and it was a very pleasant experience. I appreciate Walmart today in ways I never imagined I would. When I took Bob the dog out around 4:30 AM I noticed several additional campers, mobile homes, and trailers in the parking lot. Walmart is performing a good service for us nomads. After pancakes this morning we will head for Florida Caverns State Park where we have a three night reservation.
