If you have business in Goshen or Elkhart, Indiana, (and who doesn’t at some point?), this Walmart offers a nice option for an overnight stay. I called ahead, and I was told to just park out back, out of the way of normal traffic. There seem to be 2 distinct areas to park. Out back, next to the Automotive Center, where we parked, was fairly quiet and convenient. There were 3 semis, 2 other RVs and several trucks/vans, but everyone was spaced out, so it didn’t feel crowded. Up toward the road from that spot, there is a semi parking area that filled up overnight with semis and large RVs. When I went out with my dogs at 6am, they all had their engines and generators running. If you want a quieter spot, head toward the back.
There is really nowhere to walk your dog. Being a Walmart, I wouldn’t expect there to be one. I mention this because there is a road/path off the back lot, which looks like a very nice area to walk them. But, the path is intended for the Amish (Mennonite?) traffic, with their horses and carriages. The horses we crossed paths with were easily spooked by my 2 labradors. We left the area as quickly as we could, but saw 3 carriages before we got out. It could have been dangerous, luckily it wasn’t. I’m thinking maybe they should post a notice to not walk dogs along that path.
Overall, a good Walmart option.
Mike & Nancy would stay here again
