I was visiting Albuquerque for a day by car. I have stayed in Hotels before and absolutely despised every hotel I've stayed at. So, this time, I pulled into the Walking Sands rest area around 8pm. Went to sleep around 10 and walk up at 6am. I slept soundly all night; better than any hotel I have stayed at in Albuquerque. I only had one problem. When I arrived at 8pm, I wanted to stay in a spot that was on the edge of the parking lot so there would be less traffic on the one side of my car. There was a mini van in the spot that I wanted so I just waited 30 minutes. The mini van backed up and drove off into the night. I moved to the empty spot and settled in. About 30 minutes later, the mini van, driven by a crazy Karen pulled up directly behind me and began flashing her high beams and beeping her horn. I got out and asked what the issue was and she said that I was in her spot. I asked if there was reserved parking and she ignored me and continued to beep and flash lights. I was a little frightened so I turned on my emergency breaki-n alarm and the lights and horn on my vehicle started. She then drove away, onto the interstate. I think she was confused that there was handicapped parking. If you arrive when there is still daylight, you'll see there was handicapped spots on the end but they have since been removed and the handicapped paint was blacked out and signs removed. I think the crazy karen thought i was in a handicapped spot.
