Waimano Trail Backcountry Camping

Camping in the Ewa Forest Reserve (Waimano section) is allowed with a permit along the Waimano Trail. The trail traverses a public hunting area, hikers should exercise caution by wearing wear bright colored clothing and staying on the trail. Access to campsites may requires stream crossings, it is not recommended to hike the Waimano Trail during heavy rains due to the possibility of flash flooding. Campsites are not designated, camp within 10 feet of the center of the trail. Camping in Hawaii's Forest Reserves is usually in remote, mountainous locations providing a wilderness experience.
