Big rigs can access both sides of the highway, but are limited to the larger spots. North side has better cell signal. I spent two weekends here and, although I ride, it was super chill and all the rocks and formations, were fun to climb around on.
Keep in mind - Naval Air Station sends out their F18s - they will sometimes fly right over the camps here. It's actually pretty awesome as they can be 200 feet off the deck.

The reason for this area is to provide a desert venue for off highway vehicle use, motorcycles, RZRs, ATVs, etc. The BLM land available for this is huge, and it's 20-miles far from anywhere. Even without a motorcycle I found this desert area beautiful. On weekdays it's very quiet at night and pretty quiet during the day. The ground is mostly packed dirt and sand. I noticed no trash but a lot of evidence of camping, camp fire rings, tires tracks. Recently AT&T cell service improved, I had LTE coverage no matter where I was. I was always within one mile of Wagon Wheel Staging area.
Jim & his T@B would stay here again

The first afternoon our dogs didn't know they were edible but the next morning they figured it out and it was like they they were eating popcorn. We couldn't control them so had to leave.
Ok for big rigs but you have to pick your driving line carefully.
Too hot in the summer.
