Just a quick update for 2022. There is a drop box for payment. We paid $18 for a night. There are varying prices, please see images I added. Nice little stop for a night. Quiet. Clean. Got in no problem with 26’ class C but if it rains I’d probably not try to navigate the road.

Excellent free boondocking opportunity near Billings. We enjoyed only 2 miles of gravel to get here. The last bit into the fishing access was a bit bumpy in our truck RV. Excellent free boondocking opportunity near Billings. We enjoyed only 2 miles of gravel to get here. The last bit into the fishing access was a bit bumpy in our truck RV. I could see having issues getting in or out while it is wet. We had no problems and enjoyed the quiet. Two cars and one couple passed through before we left after one weekday night. The one pull through site we found had excellent morning and evening shade. Someone must have given this place some TLC because we didn’t encounter any garbage. We did pick up a couple of ticks here, I believe. Bugs not bad, but it’s been a dry spring.

I left the campground due to garbage on the grounds, broken beer bottles, alcohol containers tossed around sites, fire pits filled with garbage, and discarded clothing. I tried 3 sites, then chose to leave.

Voyagers Rest Fishing Access Site is a primitive camping area along the Yellowstone River. There are about 5-6 campsites at this area, but some may not be available due to flooding at certain times. This area is used primarily for fishing and river recreational access, but people do camp here as well.
A sign at the site indicates that there is a camping fee of $7 to $12, but there is no attendant or dropbox. I have stayed here several times over the past few years and never paid nor been asked about payment on the rare occasions when authorities pass through.
There is a lot of tree cover at this site which will make solar a challenge. Of course, during hot summer weather the shade may be welcome. The ground tends to be muddy any time it rains, and bugs may be a problem during spring and summer as well.
Amenities are limited, but include picnic tables, fire pits, and a vault toilet.
Access is not difficult, though it does require driving down approximately 1.5 miles of loose gravel-surfaced road (18th Road) from Highway 312. The road through the Fishing Access Site is dirt. Larger rigs are likely to have trouble with the narrow, rutted road, low tree branches, and small sites.
The nearest town is Worden on Highway 312. Worden does have a gas station and small grocery store.
This is not really a "destination site," but does work alright for an overnight while passing through the area.
