Closure update: I emailed the AZ BLM on 1-20-2021 and received this prompt response today [1-21-2021] from Peggy O': As they have been working on improvements, they keep finding more issues. There is no set date yet but we are hoping for spring. You can email me again in the future to check or call 435.688.3200"

Set to open April 8, 2022 according to the BLM as of 21 march, 2022.

I was just by there on 4/11/21, thinking I would stop for the night on my way from CA to ID. Access is closed... still due to renovations or lingering Covid or other? (Had to continue on to Cracker Barrel restaurant parking lot in St. George instead)

Answered on 5/21/2022:

It is reopened and wonderful with few tent sites and mostly only parking sites as of 05-21-2022

As of May, no word on reopening. Drove past there in March; still closed an absolutely no sign of any kind of construction activity. BLM says the facility is 45 years old. On April 30, BLM's Rachael Carnahan told me in an email "The VRCG is closed for renovations due to health and safety concerns with the aging facilities. The site will remain closed through summer of 2021. Re-opening will be announced through the website and social media channels." The Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area’s campground also remains closed to dispersed camping.
