This was our third stay at Verona Beach. It's near family, so it's a convenient place to stop on our way west, but it is also nice stop not too far from I-90 for anyone. The sites are large and grassy, plenty of shade, and breezes off the lake. Nice trail network, swimming beach, water sports, and Sylvan Beach is near by. There is a concession stand and small camp store, but this visit it was only open on weekends (did not learn why). The camping area is quiet - over there stays including a weekend there was no trouble. Clean, well maintained facilities. Verizon service was just strong enough for me to work.

“Good overnight spot near I-90”

This campground is about 8 miles from I-90 (NYS Thruway) so it makes a good stopover point away from highway noise. The town of Sylvan Beach is very close and has several restaurants.
The beach is small and swimming is only allowed when a lifeguard is on duty. There is a splash park for kids and a concession stand nearby.
Campsites are basic gravel pads, but widely spaced. Like a lot of other NY State Park campgrounds, the roads are very narrow and turns are tight. Trailers 25 feet and longer will have to cut the corner onto the grass. It had been raining when I arrived so there were a lot of ruts from previous campers.
Electric is available at a few sites for an upcharge (the fee I paid included power). Water is scattered around the campground—no water or sewer hookups.
