This is a huge campground, but it's divided into several sections, so it doesn't appear big. The price was $29 for water/electric and $31 for full hookups, plus an $8 reservation fee. The location is right by an I-5 exit, and most of the campers in the full hookup section were overnighters, so there was a lot of traffic through the loop all day with people departing and arriving. The full hookup section filled up each night, but the water/electric loop looked like it was never more than half full.
It was a beautiful location, and the campground was very well maintained. I enjoyed my 3 nights there, but it was crowded and busy, and there was constant noise from I-5, so I would not have wanted to stay longer.

Great space with plenty of space between sites. Yes, you can see your neighbors but it’s not like your awnings are gonna hot them. The outer loop has some good river view sites I’ll shoot for next time. Note - tv reception is almost nonexistent with standard booster.

We stayed here the weekend preceding Fourth of July weekend, so it was not a particularly quiet stay .... Lots of families, especially being to close to many urban areas. Many good waking areas for the dog so she got lots of exercise. Conveniently located to Medford, Grants Pass, Ashland, Jacksonville, Rogue River and others so I visited them all. Bathrooms were heavily used so needed more frequent cleaning than they received, used my own shower so don't know what that area looked like. A few dogs running loose without benefit of leash or master, so I told camp host and it was handled promptly. Nothing I could do about the kids running amok ... it was a summer weekend ... what can I say? Noise from the freeway was minimal, less distracting than the other campers noise.

We were planning to boondock in this area, but since the temperatures were approaching 100F, we decided we had better find a place with electric hookups rather than using the generator for many hours a day to power the air conditioner. As a result, we made reservations via the online system just before we arrived, and were happy to find sites available, even though we needed them on the weekend.
The sites were good - there are many pull throughs and most of them have long enough straight areas to allow big motorhomes like ours to actually pull through. The electric and water services were reliable. Verizon service was good; AT&T was marginal; both were good with cellular booster.
The park is used by a lot of folks who are relatively local - it appeared to be a good park for those with children - there were activities for kids to do.
The only reason I did not give the park 5* was due to the reservation system. As mentioned above, we had to book 2 different sites for our 2 night planned stay. The online reservation system (Reserve America) requires an $8 fee per reservation, and since we could not book 2 nights in the same site, we had to not only move during our stay (understandable because we were late booking), but we also had to pay a total of $16 to book the two one-night stays. Other public campground booking services (e.g. national parks in Canada) will allow users to book a stay "night-by-night" and combine multiple nights in the same park into a single booking fee.
On a positive note, we decided to stay an additional night, and the folks at the gatehouse were able to "extend" our stay (even though we again had to change sites) and avoid the additional reservation fee. I think if you are willing to risk a site being unavailable, and just show up, you will not need to pay the additional $8.
The site fees were $31 for FHU, $28 for electric+water. The rate that I listed ($36) was the average for our 3 night stay (2 FHU, 1 E+W, reservation fees).
It is really nice to be able to have the option of FHU sites at state parks. I was told that all of the Oregon state parks have FHU sites.
Even though the park is right along I-5, we did not find that the road noise was disruptive.
Additional note: we did not know this when we came, but if it is *hot* in the central valley (where I-5 runs through Oregon), it is probably cool/cold on the coast. We may have tried heading to the coast for boondocking weather if we had known this!
Additional note #2: We had come to this area to get some suspension work done at Henderson's Line-Up in Grants Pass. If you have any issues with handling or suspension, brakes, etc., we *highly* recommend Henderson's!

Valley of the Rogue State Park probably isn’t a place we’d plan to stay a week, but it is extremely convenient for a stop over when traveling the I-5 corridor. We’ve stayed here multiple times, and will no doubt do so again in the future. The park is large, with several loops. Loops B/C where we usually stay are FHU-50 amp and arranged with an inner circle (C loop) – all smaller back-in sites and an outer circle (B loop) – larger sites with back-in along the outside and pull-throughs on the inside. The pull through sites are long enough to accommodate even the largest rigs.
Each site has a picnic table and firepit. Bathrooms and showers are in the center of the loop. Not much in the way of vegetation between sites or privacy. There are large, mature trees to provide shade for some sites. Nice nature trail along the river and a paved trail accessible from F loop, also along the river, goes all the way into town. There is a dump station, garbage cans are conveniently located around the loop.
Note: in the fall the goat’s heads were horrible in B/C loop – puppy couldn’t walk in our site or around the campground without getting nasty stickers in his pads and they got tracked into the coach on our shoes too. In March, they weren’t a problem.
We had 4 bars of Verizon 4G.

This is a great park that is right off the interstate. We had a site that backed up to the Rogue River. Grants Pass & surrounding areas have a lot to do. Good cell and satellite service here. We find this park quiet, which is surprising be so close to the interstate.

We stayed here for a couple separate nights in August 2017. We like this campground as an overnight stop to other locations, but I would probably chose a different location if staying in the area more than a couple nights. The reason is it's very close to the freeway so you have the noise factor. The closer you can get to the river the less the freeway noise. The campground is very nice however, with all the conveniences of a typical Oregon State Park Campground including showers and restrooms but with laundry too.
Try and find a space with shade as it can be very hot in summer. There are lots of hiking trails and some river access to swim when hot.
We tried to get to our site about 1:30 on a stopover midweek but they would not let us in. Instead we were herded to a temporary waiting area until 3:00 when they finally gave us the OK. The temperature was over 100 degrees and no shade in the waiting area. There were about 25 RV's waiting there. We all roasted alive.
Site B18 was a back-in site, had some shade and backed up to the river with full hookups and was nice. Site B20 was just across from it, was a pull-through and no shade at all.
A short drive to the Town of Rogue River via back roads was nice, and we were able to fill up with diesel, wash the truck, get a few groceries at a grocery store, and pick up a bottle of Bulliet bourbon at a state liquor store, all easy access after a day of towing.

We stayed Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights, left on Tuesday in the morning. We had a real nice site with plenty of room around us and we were on the outside with a nice field behind us. We hiked on the trail, geocached, relaxed and enjoyed the campground. We went on a loop over to Jacksonville, a quiet old town with plenty to check out. We went to a few of the local wineries, please check out Red Lilly, bring a picnic and sit by the river, so nice. We went into Grants Pass and ate at the Horny Goat, wow! I had a great meal, there is plenty to choose from for any dietary need. Lots of stores near by, parks, hiking and biking trails. Dump station was clean, bathrooms clean and showers were hot and lots of pressure. We read in past reviews about the noise, we found it not to be an issue in the back of the park at our location. We did hear a train early in the morning when the campers were all asleep. no trouble from rowdy folks or kids.

Coming back to our campsite was always relaxing from the moment we pulled into our site. The staff of the park are all helpful and so nice. We were able to sit out by the fire every night.
Watch out for TICKS if you go on any hikes!
Would definitely stay again. Easy on and off the interstate but far enough away to gaze at stars and enjoy the silence.
