Very quiet, pleasant evening with vast vistas. Many places to camp along this road. Road had some ruts and holes but quite manageable for my truck if taking it slow.

We did one night boondocking and one night inside the state park campground without hookups. The boondock site was easy to get to and provides beautiful scenery and wide open spaces. We were here during the busy New Years Eve weekend and had no problem finding room outside the state park but weren't so fortunate inside the park due to its no reservations policy. We grabbed the first spot we could get which is why we didn't have hook ups. Inside the park ($10 entry) there scenery was even more beautiful and there were plenty of things to explore. Nature abounds in the park and we even had big horn sheep coming right up to the road in our site.
I recommend you plan for cold nights and mild days if coming during the winter.
Definitely worth a second trip.

There's a second camping area another 5.5 miles beyond the coordinates provided, right before the entrance to the park. If you're wondering if the Valley of Fire's unique red rock formations extend beyond the park boundaries, they don't, but it's a good spot if you want to be as close as possible to grab one of the elusive campground spots.
There're some hills to climb, but not much else going on. The rocks in the area are super abrasive, so don't plan on slipping and putting your hand out to brace your fall. No amenities, pack it in pack it out.
This camping area is several hundred feet higher in elevation than the site from the coordinates, maxing out at just shy of 3000 feet. This is about 1200 feet higher than the nearest weather station in Overton, so expect it to be a bit cooler. The wind is fierce.

We stayed here just outside of Valley of Fire so that I could work remotely, have access to the local store, and not far from Valley of Fire.
We had great Verizon cell service.

Just stayed here for three nights as we visited Las Vegas and Valley of Fire SP. right near the road were some kind of sketchy looking permanent set ups, but after that it was more the usual RV’s. There was some dirt bike/ATV noise but I was actually expecting a lot more considering the terrain and trails I saw. People were pretty considerate with generator use and there was plenty of space to spread out. Internet speeds were ok. We mainly used our Verizon MiFi hotspot and didn’t need our signal booster. Download speeds could have been better, and it noticeably slowed as more people woke up and got going.
As we drove towards V of F, we noticed a few other boondocking areas as we got close to the park boundaries. We were just checking signal strength as we drove by on the road, but a few of those higher areas did seem to have better signal.
All in all, we were pleased with the spot. We could work and do school, there wasn’t a lot of trash (some in the washes) and people were quiet and respectful. Access to the road was easy, though a bit hard to see in the dark. Directions here were accurate for the turn off. Valley of Fire is an incredible state park. Recommend it 10/10!

We arrived early afternoon on a Thursday to find that both Valley of Fire Campgrounds were full. Reading prior reviews, we had our eye open for space in the dispersed areas adjacent to the state park. We found one about 1/4 mile down a dirt road, 2 miles from the west entrance station and adjacent to the state park boundary. There are several sites here and while alone at first, we could eventually see six or eight others setting up in the area each night we stayed.
Prepare to dry camp. We chose a site with excellent solar, and came with full fresh water tank, and empty waste tanks. There is a dump station and fresh water at the campground. Overton Nevada is about 20 miles away though you must drive through the park to get there. It has fuel, grocery and laundry facilities. There is truck stop with gas about 17 miles away on the Valley of Fire Road toward the exit off of I15. Looks like they also have a convenience store. The Lake Mead National Recreation area is about 5 miles away from the east entrance to the state park.
Valley of Fire is not to be missed. The rock formations here are astounding. Be prepared for crowds. It is a popular park, and it is close enough to Las Vegas for day trippers. But do not let that deter you. Come and enjoy! Park admission is $10 a day.
We enjoyed our stay, and pleased with our choice to stay where we did. We would probably do the same next visit just to avoid the crowded busyness of the campgrounds.

We were passing thru on the 15 and decided to stay here overnight. Several campers but wasn’t too packed. We found a decent spot for our 5th wheel and was able to turn around just fine. There’s a lot of trash out here, but besides that, it’s a decent spot.

This is the very first time we camped in our new camper. We knew the developed campgrounds would be full so we picked this one near Valley of Fire State Park. We got there after dark but found several spots and basically just choose the first one.
