“Well maintained campground in the heart of red rocks”

Reviewed Apr 05, 2019

Overall Rating

We stayed in the RV section of this relatively small campground (Atlatl) nestled among the red rocks, so we had water and electric hookups, and it was a perfect base for exploring the surrounding state park. With gorgeous red rock views from every campsite, sightings of bighorn sheep in the rocks surrounding the campground, and even a ... more

We were assured campsites at either of the two campgrounds inside the park. After 15 minutes of searching and discovering it very full, we returned to the entrance kiosk to learn we couldn't get a refund! The kiosk attendant does not have a way of knowing whether people paying the $10 entry fee are going to claim a campsite. Pretty b... more

“Beautiful, well-maintained campground”

Reviewed Mar 16, 2019

Overall Rating

Valley of Fire’s Atlatl campground is in a beautiful setting with well-maintained and clean facilities. It can be chilly in the winter; when I stayed (Feb) it was in the low 30’s at night. $20/night for tent camping, $30 for RV. You may even see and hear big horn sheep herds rock scrambling outside your tent as I did.

“Love, love this place!”

Reviewed Jan 23, 2019

We stayed at a Nevada State Park and bought the $200 annual pass, which provides free basic camping, then the hookups cost just $10. We looked around to see which other parks we could use and thanks to Campendium reviewers we yearned to visit this campground. No disappointment and if anything it is even better than expected, one of our... more

“Wonderful!”

Reviewed Jan 18, 2019

Overall Rating

Great sites, great views. There is room for two RVs in each site at the RV only area which worked out great because we camped with friends. Site was fairly level and had a nice rock formation for the kids to climb on. The park in general is beautiful, well taken care of and great staff. This is my absolute favorite place near Las Vegas.

“Great campgroud!”

Reviewed Oct 30, 2018

We stayed here 3 nights in October and have been pleasantly surprised at this campground. We snagged a hookup site (they only have water/electric on sites 23-44). It is first come first serve and you really have to be here by 9 or 10 am to get a hookup site unless you are lucky. We got here at 10:15 on a Monday and got one of two sp... more

This is a first come, first serve campground. We were ther from May 6th to the 9th, 2018. We were in site 44 which had a panoramic view of the red rock mountains. The site was huge and could easily fit the largest of 5th wheels, motorhomes in addition to a couple of cars. All the RV sites have full hook-ups (Electric, water, sewer). W... more

Lovely hidden secret in Southern Nevada. In the prime cooler months make sure you arrive early to scout a campsite. We arrived at 0800 on a Thursday morning and was able to get a full hook up in Atlatl. Stunning hikes and the campground is very quiet with very clean flushing toilets. I saw that there were showers but I stayed in my tra... more
