“Quiet and peaceful in the heart of the red rocks”

Reviewed Jan 18, 2018

Overall Rating

Fantastically quiet camping in the heart of the red rocks at the Valley of Fire. Roads are twisty, narrow, and with crumbling shoulders coming out to this seemingly remote location, but manageable and paved. The campground is well-spaced and nicely laid out, with walk-in sites far away from the other sites. With the campground only an ... more

“Best Red Rock Playground for All Ages”

Reviewed Dec 31, 2017

I'd been wanting to visit Valley of Fire for months, but we can get out on a six-hour trip in the summer, winter, and spring only. Summer would be too hot for us Arizonans trying to escape the high temperatures, and I've heard the springtime is really, uncomfortably windy there. So. Winter won and we found that it's quite possibly the ... more

“Beautiful”

Reviewed Nov 26, 2017

Overall Rating

I stayed in the Arch Campground in later October. What a remarkable campground. Especially the upper loop that has camp sites nestled in the red rocks. However getting a vehicle much larger than a van through this loop, or in the camp sites, would be difficult. The road was dirt and narrow. The lower loop was more open. The camp sites ... more

“unexpected pleasant surprise!”

We thought this place was great, and would love to come back. This is a first come first serve campground, and we were lucky to find a spot, despite showing up early. It filled quickly, and you can see why as it's a very unique setting. Almost all spots are right up against the red rock, and while there isn't much brush or trees separa... more

“Spectacular Scenery and Great Campsites”

Reviewed Apr 12, 2017

Overall Rating

Valley of Fire is one of our favorite state parks. The scenery is simply stunning and the two campgrounds are well laid out and maintained. We prefer the Arch Rock campground even though there are no hook-ups there. The sites are smaller and more intimate with many of them tucked in among the huge rock formations offering wonderful pr... more

Camped here in February and we had a great time here. Well-maintained camp sites with friendly hosts and nice facilities. The free was $8/night as we were local. We paid with cash and Nevada park rangers came around with change later. We got there in the early afternoon, about 1 p.m., and sites were almost nearly full, but we got a nic... more

“Nice and Quiet during Winter”

Reviewed Jan 11, 2017

Came here with the camper and the RV area (full hook-ups) was filled except one or two ADA spots. We didn't want to take those and the ranger at the pay booth said the upper campground is nearly empty during the winter. Two minutes down the road and it was almost empty. One person with a truck and slide in. We were able to get our 3... more

We stayed in the electric+water area in the Atlatl campground.
