We were here February 11, so Mosquitos weren’t bad. Couldn’t ask for a nicer spot with majestic Live Oaks covered with Spanish Moss and a beautiful boardwalk out into the marsh. Fire ring and a picnic table. Good cell service but no pit toilets.
The Corp of Engineers has closed this free loop and it is patrolled because of drug problems. Shame because it is a really nice setup.

Wish I could have stayed. 8 sites surrounding a small lake with Picnic tables, fire rings and a pit toilet. Didn’t see any alligators but signs warn of them. About a 5 mile ride from Bear Island Campground. $5 with senior pass.

8 sites along river and 28 sites in woods along stream. Picnic tables, grills, level sites, water, electric and wonderful shower facilities. Dump station. Wish we could have stayed more nights. Dam and locks near entrance.

Lovely campgrounds around lake. No amenities except trash cans and 1 picnic table.

Had a nice time. It cost nothing as we have our Golden Pass to get into the National Park. There are a couple of site areas in the Park one for $4 and another $8 per night. They also have a dump station and Potable Water for free.
