"Incredible views and close to The Great Sand Dunes"

This is not a free campground. The camp host waved us over and said we had to purchase a Colorado Parks Wildlife SWA Permit for $36 per person over 18. We had other friends staying here that had to do the same. Had to go online to a very laborious... Read more

"Nice free campground but the bugs were relentless "

Stayed here in June. A wonderful free campground right on the reservoir with designated campsites nicely spaced. No hookups. No dump. Easy gravel road with awesome mountain views and no trees. Most campers seemed to be here for the fishing. Trash... Read more

"Not big rig friendly"

Our 5th wheel has upgraded tires, axels raised clearance to allow us to get off road. The previous report of the 27’ Airstream gave us hope yet after doing some recon decided to turn around and not attempt. The combination of the rocky rutted... Read more

"Dump fee $20 and NO potable water"

Stopped here to just dump. They charge $20 but offer no potable water due to “ limited well water”. Didn’t tell us about the water until after I paid and started to dump. Went back inside to ask about water and they said we could not fill there.... Read more

"Basic dirt parking lot, no hookups, no reservations needed"

Very basic dirt parking lot without hookups in the back of a vintage RV “hotel”. The staff is amazing and pride themselves on not giving a list of rules to follow. You get a post it with the bathroom code, WiFi code and the attendants cell phone... Read more

"What a wonderful little campground not too far off Hwy 5. The price is a steal at $20/nt compared to coastal prices. "

This is a wonderful small campground convenient to Hwy 5. Dry camping with plenty of campsites with full sun for solar. Plenty of places to run and there is an ATV area close by. The blocks that outline the campsites can be tight for bigger rigs.... Read more

"Stunning views and great sites but noise level VERY high with guns, ATV's & 4-wheelers. "

We camped on the road at the Black Canyon Trail Head. Roads are hard packed dirt/clay/rocks. We started going to Little Pan and were stopped by an ATV that redirected us to the BC trailhead area where the road was better. So we turned around and... Read more

"What a gem! Small little county campground just recently re-opened after it was taken out by Mt. St. Helens eruption in 1980. "

What a find! This county park campground was destroyed during the Mt St Helen eruption in 1980 and was never rebuilt until this last year. This little gem of a campground is right on the South Toutle (tootle) River. We were there on a weekend and... Read more

"Navigation in the park and clearance at the entrance is super tight. Long term residence were nice folks and lots of kids"

This park is located in a residential and small office buildings. Clearance was very low at the entrance and had to go in the exit to avoid low branches. Sites are super tight and we were told that we had to have our entire Rv including slides... Read more

"Nice views and great location"

This is one of the nicer KOA's that we have stayed at. Paved sites with a sliver of grass with picnic table. The views of the snow topped mountains right from your door is beautiful. Enough to make you forget you are in an RV Park. Clean... Read more
