This place really surprised me. I stayed at the West Glacier KOA a month earlier. They won the 2017 KOA of the year. They staff at the Amarillo KOA pulled the stops out to provide superb service. I showed up at 7 pm expecting to get my site number...

I could not find a lot of campgrounds around the Sandpoint area, so Sam Owens was a gem to stay and visit friends who lived close by. They have several loops, all with lots of shade.
A great place to spend the night while traveling to Sandpoint, ID. The spots are large, with room between spots. The camp host was great.
We intended to go to Upper View, but it was crowded and I thought the road was too much to travel up. We found a spot between two other campers and had a great time.
This used to be our favorite place to camp. It has become too popular and now is not as enjoyable as it used to be. They were also doing construction, which closed down one loop, which only made the problem worse.
