We went there on May 17, 2022 and the entrance gate was locked. No notice, no explanation.

Easy to find, campsites are on graded spur roads off main road though the Forest. I was here in a Sunday night in early May 2022 and had the spur with four campsites all to myself. Close to Long Pond, lovely setting.
