"It’s a tight fit for a crew cab dually with a 37’ fifth wheel. "

Beautiful small free campground but it’s not for long, tall, heavy rigs. I found one of maybe two campsite that I would fit in. Steep, tight road up to the campground. If you try have 4 wheel drive and years of experience working through tight... Read more

"Free or Not Free?"

I think I have it figured out. The camping on Proctor Rd is free but you need to register. There’s a $8.00 day fee but if you have one of several passes, it’s free. They do have numbers at the sites but I think it’s more to control where people... Read more

"Nice and Quiet but can get Windy "

I backed up a 37’ fifth wheel into site 18. Helps have 4 wheel drive, the tires still slipped a bit. The Ramada block the view from the fifth wheel but you get beautiful sunsets from the picnic table. The Malpais Nature Trail is handicap... Read more

"Quiet except for the noisy Birds"

I arrived around 4:30 pm and there was no one so I went over towards the boat ramp to camp. Overall it’s clean but the fire rings are the bottle collection sites. The coyotes are in the neighborhood, along with cattle and horses. Good spot... Read more

"Very quiet "

I came in from Sterling, CO (53 miles) and the roads are good pavement till you turn off on county road 129. It’s a good chip-seal surface but watch for the curves and hills which are mostly gravel, washboard so if you’re towing, SLOW DOWN. At... Read more

"Windy and hot. "

Late in the season and I’ve had the whole place to myself other than 2 days. Large areas to camp and services in Salome. I’ve seen one burro but have not heard any coyotes. I’ve not driven all the way back on the main road but it looks to be... Read more

"High and windy. "

Site 73 sets on the edge of a ridge overlooking the Baboquivari Mountains to the west and the San Luis Mountains to the southeast. The site is at 3600 feet of elevation and gives you an almost 360 degree view. It’s on road 201 and is not very... Read more

"Rocky Road and Windy "

It’s busy and a lot of the turnouts are full. Drove up to the base of Saddle Mountain to find a site big enough for a crew cab dually with a 37 foot fifth wheel. Great Views. Be careful of the rocks and brush. Had to make a tight turn to get... Read more

"More people here than I suspected. "

Quite a few large sites and at least 4 handicap sites. Very quiet but the generator hours are 8:00 to 8:00. Each site has a concrete picnic table and a fire ring. No services, dump site or water. It’s a eleven mile drive in from the freeway on... Read more
