This spot is extremely popular with locals, so don't expect quiet and peace when you come here on a holiday weekend (Labor day for us). There is plenty of space and for the weekend we spent here there were at least 30 different parties present....
During the week the spot is great. Short drive to any northern/eastern part of Mount Rainier NP (the less crowded area) with all the great hikes. It's 35 min to Sunrise visitor center.
You get some Elk visitors, can hike down to the White River...
If you mind noise don't camp here. You get it all: the constant racetrack (every day we were here, until late in the evening and with no races scheduled), the airplanes from the airport right next to it, the train behind the campground and all the...
We managed to snatch this spot on labor day weekend, but based on the scouting vehicles it was more luck than a regular occurrence. There are several spots further down the road, too, but they're right under the power lines.
The spot is right...
You basically have the choice of three gravel parking lots where you can camp. One on the southern site (where the coordinates will bring you), one north and one in the middle (at the trailhead to the waterfall). We ended up in the middle after...

The RV loop has more solar...

If you're driving something bigger, get out and scout first. The layout is somewhat confusing and definitely tight in some points. You also sleep right next to a cemetery if you're bothered by something like that.
Immaculately taken care of,...
The sites are nicely spaced, some with a view of the Cascades and Palisades. It's a nice little state park that offers some exploring. One trail goes from the Campground up to the viewpoint. Definitely worth it on a clear day. Some noise from the...
