Pros: free, beautiful, cell service.
Cons: can be very crowded by day use and fellow campers. Some people don’t clean up their trash.
Note: there are three places that do not have trees on the shoreline. Those are boat ramps. Don't park in...
We stopped here after Kelly was too crowded for us to fit. We waited for another RV to leave and snagged their waterfront spot. This place gets packed when weather is nice. Overall a very peaceful spot.
Gets busy since it serves all the campgrounds in town. $5
Quartz Creek Campground sits between Kenai Lake and Quartz Creek. It’s a beautiful location with water access and views. When we arrived on a Saturday, the campground was full, but we lucked into a cancelled reservation for a waterfront site....
I was told that 7+ years ago the glacier was right in front of the campground. These days it’s receded to about 1.5 miles up the road. The campground is fine. Nothing fancy. Definitely not worth $20. There’s also an overnight parking area...
We stopped in to scope out this campground but ended up deciding to head to Whittier. It seems really nice. My only complaint is the proximity to the highway/road noise.
We popped in for a night so we could knock out several errands in Anchorage. The location is very close to shopping, etc in Anchorage, which is great. The campground is pretty wooded, but it is close to the highway, so there is some road noise....
We drove through and considered staying here. It’s not a bad spot, just mediocre. It has cell service and is reasonably secluded. Not bad.
