Great overnight option. The Walmart in Cortez was our original plan, but this was soooo much better. We enjoyed the wide open (solar friendly) spot we found....previously occupied by horse campers, LOL. Well maintained roads and not much traffic.

We hiked about 12 days out of the 14 days. Lovely desert landscape (tons of cactus). We saw desert big horn sheep and deer. After a full day of rain...waterfalls...what a rare desert treat.
