"Among the red rocks"

About a 6 mile drive down Forest Road 525. Plenty of places to pull over. Some are closed off for restoration, but still so many. The closeness to Sedona is perfect. Everyone is friendly and was usually pretty quiet after 10pm.

"Right on the lake"

Perfect free area with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Bathrooms were closed and will open when the weather gets warmer. I loved being right in Winslow. A great little pit stop on our way out West.

"Scenic and natural"

Another great area for exploring. The campground was very clean with 2 vault toilets at each end. Plenty of room at all the sites from what we saw. Very nice sunsets. Water is at the Ranger Station nearby with a limit of 5 gallons a day.... Read more

"Scenic overlook"

We pulled in really late (around 11pm) and ended up sleeping in the car. Woke up to beautiful scenic views of the lake. Talk about wow. The wind definitely makes it colder than it is, but wasn't too bad. Plenty of parking even if you don't get an... Read more

"Awesome find"

We found this place through the website. The other review made it sound a little sketchy, but we absolutely loved it. Free camping right on the lake and lots of timber all around to have a nice campfire. This is definitely a local hangout or a... Read more

"In a neighborhood"

Wonderful little city park just North of Houston. We stayed for just the 1 night via a reservation. We were the only tent campers. Nice picnic table, huge firepit, water spigot, and electric hookup were all included. Plus there are showers in the... Read more

"Lovely and natural"

We chose this place because of the being in nature, but not too primitive. We stayed in site 15 and it was perfect. We were a hop and skip away from the bathrooms and laundry area. There were owls hooting at all times, armadillos out at night, and... Read more

"Nice surprise"

Traveling down from Hot Springs, AR and we decided to stop here for the night. Nice, clean bathrooms and area with little gazebos everywhere. When we woke up, we got the nice surprise of free coffee in the morning from inside. The highway noise... Read more

"All to ourselves"

We stopped here looking for something free. It was just as sunset was happening so we were glad to get here when we did. The weather was pretty cold, but someone had left the fire rings full of wood. So we chose one and made ourselves a fire to... Read more
