Great pullout for an overnight, but very busy during the summer so you will have neighbors. You also can hear trucks engine breaking down the pass.
Breathtaking views of the valley.
Great cell coverage from Steamboat.

Great spot. Great views. Easy to get into with our ford transit van. Pretty busy on a Tuesday night. Spots for 5-6 vans campers. Can hear highway. If this one full drive south on US 40 to the next one.

As of May 2022, we tried to camp here to find the pull-out itself blocked off. However, if you drive just a couple minutes down the road (coming down the pass), there is another semi-circle pull-out on the left that was unblocked. Room for a couple large rigs and a space for vans and cars on the side. Gorgeous views of the valley, good Verizon signal (poor AT&T), quiet despite being right next to the road, and 15 minutes from town. Cooler temps here up on the pass than in the valley. Had it mostly to ourselves, joined by a couple overnighting vans and cars.

FYI there are a total of three Free semi-circular road pullouts on the south side of US 40: FS roads 290, 292, 294
There is road noise in the day but it is much reduced at night. Fifteen minutes to Steamboat Springs.

We stayed here for 8 days in our camper. We had 40mb download AT&T with our we boost.
A decent amount of people will drive by during the day to take pictures of the lookout spot but not a lot.
People had class A and 5th wheels here.
