Question about Upper Teton View - Toppings Lake Dispersed Campsites 8-16

Rchr2022 asked on 4/22/2022

We will be in the area mid-week in mid-May. Is it really busy at that time? We may not get there until 7:00 pm.

I don’t think you’ll find any spots open at 7:00. This place was very popular, lots of people parking in the lower lot with no luck.

We’ve only been in July one time, and it was very busy in the first three main areas. Spots were open the further up you went. However the further up you go the more challenging it looked for larger rvs. In my humble opinion this is probably hands down one of the most popular boon docking spots in the units states! For good reason, it’s amazingly beautiful and accessible for a lot of different rvs. I would personally never expect this place to be empty or to be on my own. It’s actually quite the community.

We stayed there in mid-May 2021. The road to then upper campsites was closed due to winter fall. The lower Teton View filled up fast, and anything later than 7:00 was full. If the roads to the upper view(s) are open, there should be plenty of space. Yes, the road up will be muddy if it has rained and most likely still deeply rutted. We made it up in a 40' Class-A. If the area is full, Spread Creek is just north on Hwy 89 and has good access roads and lots of space. Would do if you get in late and everything is full or the road is real muddy. Also keep in mind that the Bridger/Teton National Forest limits stays to 5 nights, not 14.

It could be fairly muddy on the road. Like mentioned by others, the earlier you can arrive, the better your chances of a clear view will be. Traffic will be picking up mid-May

Evening is a tough time to arrive. Good news is, you'll have options. Look on Google Maps and you'll see a forest road. You can drive all the way down that until you find a spot if the main area is full then come back in the morning when it empties out. Or you'll fall in love the the backwoods sites down the road, win win either way.
