“Nice place to spend a weekend”

Overall a nice experience. The only significant downside was the proximity to the highway. There was some traffic noise, which would be a challenge in tent, but in the RV it was not a problem. It quieted down in the evening.
Very easy access to the river which was fun place to splash around.
We stayed at site 19 was big enough for our 25 foot travel trailer, but was challenging to back into. The site is dirt, and pretty level. Friends stayed at site 20 with their RV. It is paved and very easy to get into. It is however close to the vault toilets and gets busy (and noisy) early in the morning. It is also near the dumpster which is convenient, however loud when the trucks come in to empty them.
There was a minor issue with the water. It is available from multiple faucets, however there was a sign that said you should boil for 5 minutes before use. We talked to the camp host who said this was not because the water is tainted, but simply because the permit had expired and it was prohibitively expensive to to get it updated. He said the water is still tested regularly and had not any issues. We used it to fill the RV tanks and used it for washing up, showering and brushing teeth with no issues at all. We used bottled water for drinking.
Short drive into Truckee if supplied are needed. There is a great bike park that is adult and kid friendly for riding short mountain bike courses.
Tim would stay here again

Very close to the highway but it quiets down at night. We paid only $10 with our Senior Poppy Pass. Otherwise it’s $20. Beautiful place, no services other than a nicely threaded water spout, sweet little creek just steps away deep enough to lie down in. Helpful camp host. Great bird watching.... ospreys fishing in the creek.
