The website seems to make it look like there will be places to access the water for the kids to play but NO. The only access to the water is the Crappie Pier that you have to pay to use and they wont let kids down there. The pools are about the size of an average living room. The cafe on the property is this dingy little pocket of a place that took 52 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we got our food (although to be fair the burgers were good). The cabin #7 had a gas leak the first day. The second day we discovered that the reason the AC wouldnt chill down was because it had a 1 inch thick block of ice on it and we had to wait for maintenance to come overhaul it for it to work again and the third day the door got stuck and we couldnt close it all the way or lock it so we could drive 10 miles up the road to a place that had an area for the kids to play in the water. We were told the reason the kids couldnt play in the lake there was because of construction debris in the water. The stairs down to the crappie pier look like there used to be a little electric trolley but it has long since been dismantled and the ramining parts are in various stages of decay. There were 20 in our group, we rented 2 cabins and 2 RV spaces. One of the RV spaces was so unlevel it actually put our automatic leveling in a bind and caused the RV to be stuck on the truck. We also rented a boat slip it was a uarter mile hike down and up a steep hill to the marina section of the park which was also home to docks and boats in various stages of non-use. We were able to get 2 cabins (Cabin 7&8) close together and 2 RV spots (25 & 26?) close together but the cabins and the RV spaces were VERY far apart for our older family members to traverse by walking. One shining star of the experience was the maintenance man, he was friendly and came to the rescue every day in a timely manner and was kind and courteous and professional.

“The campground isn’t big rig friendly. Too tight to make turns. ”

Friendly staff. Restaurant on site...a little pricey for sandwiches in my opinion. 2 pools is a plus. Lake is beautiful! Access to fish and boat. If you have a 5th wheel, it’s best to not check in at the office with your rig attached. Do NOT go through main entrance. Drive past the entrance road so it will be easier to access your campsite on the side roads. Do not choose the pull-thru site 15 for your fifth wheel because it is too tight to maneuver, and you will risk damage to your RV with the lower hanging trees. Be careful when you are parking your RV so you don’t run over the sewer hook-up. The hook up is low to the ground and is white PVC. You can sometimes see the PVC tubes running across the sites because of the erosion of the crush and run (stones). I didn’t like that the campground was in the midst of private residences. The residences let their dogs roam. I am a dog lover, but it does pose a problem especially in the morning when you take your own dog out to pee. Just be aware. No laundry site which was a bummer. Free WiFi- but not strong.
