Our first camping trip of the season and I wanted something rustic and secluded. This fit the bill. There are nicely kept up vault toilets and potable water but that's it. 12 campsites and only 3 other groups were there in mid-June.

There are 2 sections- 1) non-trailer (the road in was narrow and rough) and 2) anyone. We tent camped in the "anyone" area because it had sun and shade and easy access to the Umatilla River. I did not count how many campsites in each section but I would guess 6 each.

7 year old son spent all of Sat. afternoon playing in the river. We did not fish but it says you can. There are several trailheads near by. We found 2 of them and enjoyed them both, Buck Creek and Umatilla something??. Trails were overgrown and muddy but it did not deter people. We were surprised to run into 3 groups of people on the trails. None staying in the campground.

One negative is that the usda.gov site directions were a bit off on distance. At one point it directs you to drive 9.5 miles. Well, it's closer to 15 miles.
