We pulled up around 6pm and were able to use a landline (that the host pointed out) to call into recreation.gov and reserve/pay through our account. It was a rainy weeknight, just one other camper and host were there. Sites are just off the river, and walking toward the group site there are trails down to the water. We spent 20 minutes down there with coffee and the dogs before hitting the road. Was super beautiful on a crisp fall morning.
I went to check rates, and think October might be the end of the season here, so double check before planning on it.
5 stars for roadside, but selected 4 because the road noise across the river was a bit of a bummer especially if you were trying to spend the weekend in the woods.

We stayed here for one night in June of 2022. The price shown includes any reservation fee and/or senior discount. Our trailer is just under 22', but our tow vehicle is a long bed, extended cab. We fit into site #7 without having to disconnect. The site was large, gorgeous and had a view of the river below. The turnaround is a bit tight and I would not recommend a huge RV to try this.
Nice camphost, firewood for sale, day use area and a little walking trail along the river. Two sets of stairs down to the river, but with all of the recent rain, river was flowing fast and was dirty.
The sites have little wood fences around, the standard picnic table & firepit, and most have really nice tent areas. There was some road noise - busy road across the river.
At our time of stay, sites had to be reserved online (recreation.gov I believe) with no option to pay in an dropbox.
I don't remember having cell service, but loved the greenery, ferns & moss and would definitely stay here again!

Site #2, a 55 ft site, is positioned on a tight corner, up an incline, and between closely positioned trees on both sides. In addition, the tree roots have grown under the ashpahlt creating a washboard of the pavement. It was so bumpy I had to put my truck into 4 wheel drive just to get the trailer pushed up the hill and over the bumps.
I knew going in that there's no electric but I didn't realize it was so shady. I don't carry a generator and rely on solar when boondocking. Unfortunately, even though it was sunny, there was very little sun making it through the tree branches into my site. A friend ended up not needing her site #5 so I moved into it. Ran into the same issue. I ended up leaving early.

All of the sites are only yards away from the Umpqua river. Camp host was very cool. He didn’t bother us a bit, but when I had questions he was friendly and full of knowledge on the area. When we got there we thought having zero cell service was a bad thing, but it is so nice to unplug from the outside world for a few days. The campsite has a land line phone near the firewood shed for emergency and local calls. We are definitely coming back next summer.

Looks like an okay place. There was no one here except the camp host. But we couldn’t stay because you have to make a reservation before getting there. And there is no cell service so you can’t call to make a reservation. Nothing on the web about the campground warning you that a reservation was required. Real nice.

Gorgeous little campsite with fire pits, drop toilets and water. Only 10 sites and right by the river which is great! Nice and easy to find. No cell service
