The sites are on the smaller side and I would imagine the loop being difficult to navigate in a bigger rig. The dump station in particular would be a bit tricky to get in and out of if you have a long rv. That said it is a pleasant little place with nearby lakes and ranger led activities. Our camp host was very kind and helped us back in as it was our first time doing so and we arrived after dark.

The bathroom has four individual clean shower rooms with plenty of hooks, a chair, a mat so you don’t slip on the tile and a place to put shampoo and soap in the shower. For me the water could have been a bit warmer on a cool October day. The sink and toilet areas were also clean.
The campground is in the trees, but there is no lower vegetation between sites. Some sites are oriented towards woods so they offer a bit more privacy. Most of the camping pads are double wide so they offer options on how to park a trailer. I thought the spacing was adequate between sites, some more than others.
Most of the sites have even hard packed fine gravel pads but some tend to slope back and to one side. We were level in site 28, even though there was a slight slope to one side. The sites on the inside of the circle are more level. The sites on the further side of the loop on the outside are more level. But the other sites are not dramatically sloped as you first enter. If you want perfect then this may not be the place for you. You may need to use a block or two to be level.
The campground is across the road from the day use area which has a lovely beach and swimming area. I am sure this is probably very popular in warm weather. We stayed here because we wanted to ride the High Bridge Rail Trail, which you have access to within five miles. This is a rural area, so Farmville is where you would need to go for supplies.

2. Well maintained campground
3. Nice scenery and good hiking, although there is no challenging hiking to be found. After all, this is in the VA Piedmont with not much elevation.
4. Excellent 4G Verizon service.
5. Lots of opportunities with the lakes—beaches, swimming, boating, and etc. we did none of this in November.
6. This was one of the few VA state parks with elect/water sites available on a Nov weekend.
Despite these positives I can’t give more than 3.5 stars because of the campsites. They are fairly small with absolutely no privacy. When you’re sitting outside and not reading, you’re staring at your neighbors. Luckily for us, the campground was about 80% full and no “problem” groups. Our 26’ trailer fit into site 20 just fine, but the loop will be tight for bigger rigs. I would stay here again if I happened to be near, but wouldn’t drive 150 miles to do it again.

We camped Thursday to Sunday morning in Aug 2019. On arrival Thurs night we were 1 of 5 campers in the park. Over the weekend more campers arrived but the campground only grew to half full.

Campsites are close together with no privacy. Many of them are small and unlevel. We camped on the outside of the loop for more privacy however, the sites on the inside of the loop are more level. There are only 3 crescent shaped pull through sites for very large rigs. The campground host was friendly and said this is a very quiet campground during the week with it getting busy on the weekend.
Bath house was clean and updated. The dump station was being worked on but was functional while we were there. Entire park was very clean and well maintained.
There is a path to one of the two lakes. Canoe/kayak/paddle boat rentals are available. Lifeguards are stationed at a swimming beach during the summer. A snack bar is open at the beach area. Fishing is also allowed on both lakes in the park. Non motorized boats are allowed and there are boat ramps on each lake.
Twin Lakes SP is about 20 min from High Bridge Trail SP (no camping there) which is a 31 mile crushed gravel flat (on old railroad bed) biking and hiking trail. This is an easy trail for biking and may also be of interest to anyone interest in Civil War historical sites.
Despite the campsites not being the greatest we would stay here again.
