This is an absolutely stunning and lovely campground. The park is neat, immaculately clean, and well-organized; the bathhouse appears to have been recently renovated and is spotless; the pool area was nice; and the mini golf was fantastic! They have weekend activities such as outdoor movies and kid-friendly events. The campground is secluded but close to shopping in Indian River, Cheboygan, and Petoskey. The owners and managers are extremely friendly and accommodating! This is a truly wonderful park, and I can't wait to return.
Internet: T-Mobile is LTE with 2-3 bars, AT&T is blazingly fast, Verizon is LTE with 3 bars. Starlink might work but the park is very wooded so it might be difficult finding a space with a clear view of the sky. The park doesn't have WiFi. Mail: Amazon (UPS) delivers here using the 2201 M-68 HWY address. Mail delivered via USPS to this address will be held at the local post office. If you need to receive USPS mail, make sure you send it to their P.O. Box 577.

My family and I have been visiting Indian River for over 40 years. We have a rich family heritage on Burt Lake. Streets in Tuscarora Township are named after my ancestors. We have stayed at Reeds, The Woodlands, The State Park, Michigan Oaks, and now Twin Bears. By far, Twin Bears, as Michigan Oaks is now called, was the worst. When I arrived, I found a camper already on the site I had previously reserved and verified.
My family and I reserved 6+ sites because of a wedding and memorial service and liked to get together and sit around the camp fire afterward. Guests are asked to pay a $5 fee, which is not unreasonable. What is unreasonable is everything being closed and Jen decides to storm up to the campsite, write down everyone's license plate numbers without giving them a way to pay the park fee. Instead of "Welcome to Twin Bears. We are glad to have you visit. We do charge $5 for a guest pass, if you'd like to take care of that now?" Instead, it was quite rude and very militaristic.
Jen would trash talk customers within earshot of other customers or to other customers. She would blow off one customer on the phone trying to make a reservation because "I have other customers in line here"
This was definitely not the experience we had last year when it was Michigan Oaks. We will not be back with our 6-10 spaces in the future.

Don’t confuse Michigan Oaks with Twin Bears. Michigan Oaks was run by Dorothy and her husband who recently retired. Our family of 20+ stayed at Michigan Oaks in 2020 and it was one of the best trips ever. The staff was awesome! The campground was well kept, bathrooms were clean and the staff even came around and collected trash every morning which was a nice bonus.
This year the campground was purchased by Jennifer Vits-Cruz and I would easily compare her to Ms. Trunchbull with respect to how she runs this campground and instead of punishing people with “The Chokey” she rides around on a golf cart taking picture of license plates, harassing campers and their guests. This goes on every night. Our family was on vacation, but also in town for a wedding and a funeral. Every night we would gather with all of our family around a fire and have extended family come and visit which costs $5 a car. Not a big deal, but Jen circled our sites which we rented, every few minutes for a warden check so she did not miss out on her $5 and took photos of all of the cars. Keep in mind that we are pretty much the only campers in the area we are staying in, the park has been almost empty.
If you are wanting to enjoy a peaceful and clean campground, I would not recommend Twin Bears. They are disorganized and don’t even get me started on the check in process…it was nothing but a Sugar Honey Iced Tea show. As I mentioned we had six sites and somehow we all ended up with the same site number. There is major room for improvement and my first suggestion would be for Jen to surgically remove the giant stick that is up her nether region!
