Three distinct loops, two high, one low. Rushing stream at the rear of our site puts it over the top. Seriously wish we could stay more than one night but we'll be back for sure.
Don't miss the nearby Manzanar Japanese internment camp and the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Outstanding!

The campground is located in a desert region and sites have no shade. So if you're sleeping in tent, it can be hot... But the view from sites on the rock montain, especially during sunset, is just gorgeous!
Drinking water is available, and a small river runs through the campground, which is convenient if you want to refresh you without wasting drinking water. Some trees with shade are along the river. Toilet are clean and host really nice. Price is really cheap… What more?
A good stop before entering in the Death Valley. Lone Pine Town has a gas station, and fresh drinks. We stayed there mid-June, it's was really different from our last stop - Lundy Canyon Campground, just 100 miles North - where it was almost freezing!

I stayed here a little over a week while I supported a PCT hiker. While most spots are exposed (great for solar panels), I had a couple of trees shading my trailer and a creek that ran just behind my trailer. The site was mostly level and plenty long enough for a good sized trailer or RV. The pit toilets were always clean and there was fresh water available and a dump station. No electricity or water at individual sites. There are a lot of hiking trails and the trail access to Mt. Whitney is close by. The camp hosts were great. The Alabama Hills are beautiful and home to the filming sites of over 400 movies and there is a movie museum in Lone Pine. It is hot here in the summer. I enjoy boondocking and the stars are magnificent here at night. It is super quiet and there appears to be a lot of fishing in the local streams.

Excellent access. Super clean and well maintained. All sites are improved to be level and include a solid table and major league fire pit. Views toward Whitney, up, down and across the Owens Valley are very nice. Easy hiking with a few road beds and lots of sagebrush. Creek runs right through the campground and it was roaring. Access to the creek is limited due to dense brush. We liked it so much we came back a week later for 2 nights. On that stay we scored site 50. Remember that number. No one between the site and Whitney. A truly special spot. Note that the Navy likes to send F-18 Hornets to the Owens Valley for flight maneuvers.

We came here to dump our tanks and refill water after spending a few days in the Alabama Hills just down the road. We loved it so much we ended up staying for a few days. It was a beautiful location overlooking the valley with Mt Whitney behind us. Plus the our Verizon 4G signal was good enough to stream video here.
The spot we picked was in the lower part of the campground that had more open sky for our solar. There was only one other camper in the lower end besides us. This was one reason we stayed longer. Everyone was in the upper part of the campground which had a few trees.
There's a dump station near the entrance to the campground and a drinking water tap in the campsite loop. Everything we needed was there. Also, the pit toilets were the cleanest I've seen (no smell, no bugs, and clean). We really enjoyed our stay in this BLM campground for $8 per night and will definitely stay here again.

The sites are wonderful. #58 is level with a southeast view from the fire ring and a Sierra view from our kitchen table!
Water is strange but available. Each loop has 1 potable water with the remaining water locked up and marked non-drinking.
Verizon cell is good LTE! The best $8 site I have been in.

We loved the mountains, but very crowded. We called ahead to make sure the water was turned on and safe to use for drinking. The main office said yes. When we arrived we found a new sign saying water not safe to drink and all the spigots padlocked. The only water turned on was at the dump and it also stated not potable.

We stayed in late March so nights were cold but they have fire pits and the days were sunny and warm, giving us plenty of solar power to heat the trailer in the night.
