Tucker's Landing RV Park

Difficult to find the alternative entrance when the water is high. The Ohio River was rising, but the staff communicated to us that it wasn’t necessarily a threat to the campers. They communicated that an alternate entrance would be needed to get into the campground. That was not easy. The campground host didn’t return calls when I asked for more specifics on how to get in or find the alternate entrance. Finally parked near the campground and walked down the camp host and he told me where it was. Bad news is he had a nippy little dog that ran my feet and nipped at me. Also, around the campground there were various campers with vulgar political signs up. Later that evening, wife and I went for a walk. Someone who was apparently intoxicated and leaving the nearby bar/restaurant stopped and harassed us. They told us we look like we were drunk, and then as they sped off called us “commies”. None of the other campers were really very friendly. Not a good experience.

The sites were nice, but did not come with a fire pit or picnic table. Fellow campers were friendly. Electric was an extra charge - although it ended up only being and extra $40 for 3 weeks.

Verizon internet was absolutely abysmal. We are a couple that works remotely from our RV and it was completely unusable and we had to resort to coffee shops all week.

A major pro for this site was the proximity to downtown/surrounding neighborhoods. Easy to get around and allowed for lots of exploring.

Easy place to stay if you’re looking to do things in town. The park itself is just a place to put your RV. Close to downtown, the ballpark, music venues. Spots are clean and level. Full hookups, but note they charge separately for electricity and there is a $1 pet fee (but why? there are no cleanup stations that we saw). Oriented towards longer term stays. There’s no office to check in at, you call them upon arrival. T-mobile coverage was poor, Verizon a little better.

We were passing through and wanted to visit friends that live in Cincinnati so for the location alone, it was totally worth staying here. There aren't a ton of options in the area. The site was kind of tight for us with a 38'9" toy hauler which was not super fun to park, but it looked there were other rigs of similar sizes in the park with a bit more room around their site, so it's most likely dependent on where you get placed. The site was level and it was a full hookup so really no major complaints. With our toy hauler back porch out, we were also able to look over the water which was nice. Everyone was very friendly. It looks like most people are here longer term, but everything is very well kept.

3 things to note:
- When you get there, you need to call to find out what site you're in. There is no main office. The host did come by our site to check on us, but it was just a weird thing we didn't know about. If you can call in advance and ask, I would.
- You get charged for electric regardless of how long you stay. It wasn't a big deal for us, but it's just not something I've experienced except for monthly stays, so just factor it in.
- While there is a sign for the entrance, you can't really tell it's an RV park because the actual park is located behind a bunch of boat storage.

This full-hook-up (50/30, H20, sewer) RV park features level concrete padded back-in sites with an okay amount of space between your neighbor (roughly 20 feet). It was decently quiet in the winter, with some air traffic overhead from the private airport across the street and barge traffic in the river. Many sites have views of the river. We enjoyed the access we created (we snuck through the trees near a fence across from the main entrance sign to Rivertowne Marina) to reach the Lunken Airport Bike path - a 5.5-mile paved loop around the airport with offshoots into the city or to the Little Miami River Trail. There is a bathhouse with showers and a single washer and dryer (coin-operated - $1.50 each) which was cleanish when we used it, although clearly not cleaned regularly. While there are seasonal dwellers here, there are no 'permanent' type set-ups - likely due to the fact that this RV park floods in the winter.

The park is a 10-15-minute drive into downtown Cincinnati.

We likely would have given this place 5-stars based on location, cleanliness, and running access from the park. However, the business practices here are really rough at the moment. Note: when we arrived at this RV park, a new owner had just acquired the park. We arrived to find our paid-for (with a campsite lock-in upgrade fee on Campspot) was occupied in what appeared to be a seasonal fashion. After speaking with the friendly camp host, we realized this wasn't a terrible thing after all, as the RV park had turned off all the water to the campsites for the winter, and those staying would need to share communal no-free spigots which were placed randomly throughout the park (but not near our originally booked site). After some back-and-forth, we secured site 5, which was directly adjacent to a spigot so we could fill out tanks whenever we desired. Sewer and electricity were on for the winter. NOTE: we were not informed that the water would be off when we booked. After spending time here and speaking with our neighbors, they were not informed of this either - even the long-term patrons.

A month into our stay, we receive an electric fee that was auto-billed to our credit card on top of our monthly site fee. We would have no issue with this... except we were not informed at any point that we would be paying for electricity on top of the base site fee. Several other neighbors were also shocked by this (apparently this is a new practice) - one had his account overdraft. The next month we received a paper notice that all sites would now accrue electric fees - even for single-night stays. So, just a heads up - as of January 2022, electric is tacked on to all stays and auto-billed at the end of your stay (or the end of the month).

Flooding. We were not alerted that this RV park floods annually. While we were here the access roads to the RV park flooded 3x. This was fine, as the management opens a road towards 4-Seasons to get in and out of the park. Just make sure you aren't expecting any package deliveries if it's calling for high river levels! We found out the hard way that about once a year the river floods enough that the RV park needs to shut off all electricity to the campsites - and evacuate some or all of them. This typically occurs in February or March. The day before this was predicted to occur, while most of the patrons who had been in the park found alternative parking locations at other local RV parks, new patrons who had not been informed of flooding were still rolling in.

Overall, the management of this park is either going through some growing pains or is inept. After speaking with the new owner, I do believe it's more of a growing pains situation - but do be aware of surprise fees, flooding, and a big discrepancy between booking online and the site that may be available when you arrive.

Cellular service here on Verizon was abysmal - even voice cut out at times. Starlink was highly usable with an open sky and an open cell. The park's Wi-Fi was okay - usable most of the time for basic tasks, although you shouldn't expect to stream or video call on it.

Our campsite was right by the river, made for a beautiful sunset. Loved the very kind couple/camp host that checked us in, drove a golf cart to show us where to park.
Exploring the park and marina is easy, totally paved, and easy access to the water. Very clean and quiet.
Hook ups easy and close by. No issues getting 40ft 5th wheel in and out.

This is a new RV park right in the heart of Cincinnati. It’s central to everything, so if you want to explore the city, maybe you'd like this place. Arrival was a little confusing. There was no one to check us in, but our name and site number were on a whiteboard at the entrance. There was no campground map but we were able to find our site easily enough. Sites are angled for easy backing. Level concrete pads with patio space. Full hookups. 50/30 amp service. No picnic table is provided and personal fire pits are not allowed. There’s a new bath house with toilets and a shower. Women’s side was very clean. There are hookups for laundry machines which appear to be going in soon. It has a keypad entry and we had to track down a resident for the code. In addition to full hookups, there’s a clean dump station. As for the park itself, it advertises a boat ramp but don’t count on using it. The river deposits debris there and it is currently blocked by large logs and silt deposits. There is little shade. Lots of seasonal residents with tidy sites. There are a couple restaurants close by. The bar and grill at the neighboring marina, Upper Deck, has good food and drinks, indoor/outdoor seating and a view of the marina below. There’s another restaurant at the marina level but it was outdoor seating only and so hot during our stay that we didn’t visit it. Overall, this is a good jumping point for visiting Cincinnati, but not for "camping." It's basically a parking lot. Cell service is abysmal and campground WiFi is slow. Even with a booster, our reception was spotty.
