The sites are spacious and flat. Pit toilets are clean. Water spigots throughout the campground. Direct access to the river. I saw a couple of small rattlesnakes, be careful walking around! No cell reception or WiFi.
This campground is not free as of July 9th 2023. It is $15, to leave in a box.
Further down on Rt 96 towards Happy Camp there are other small campgrounds or dispersed camping spots, some of which have WiFi.

Early June, 2022. I had contemplated staying here several times over the last few years while supporting a PCT hiker but the reviews were old and not very convincing so thought I would check for myself without my rig behind me. Glad I did. When approaching this campground from the west (I-5 or Yreka) you have to make a left turn into it across oncoming traffic on a hairpin blind curve. After seeing it I would drive on a mile or two until I found a spot to turn around and approach from the east. No way would I feel comfortable pulling a rig in on that corner. That being said, the park was not well maintained, grass and weeds growing up thru the asphalt, only a few spots that could handle larger rigs, and there was no host on site. No hookups. Don’t think I would feel comfortable dropping my rig here unattended to go exploring. There was good river access and a boat launch for drift boats. A previous reviewer mentioned a steep drop down into the campground but I didn’t think that part was much of an issue.

Great campground and site. Great specimen trees and some sort of green grassy/weedy areas, pit toilets, several easy trails to river, nature walk, etc.
Toilets were fairly well maintained and not stinky yet except for the ones near the day use area. No hookups for electric, no dump, but good water.
Camp host (young guy from SC) was proudly maskless and proudly unvaxed. Eager to tell you about Bill Gates, the “government” and its poison vaccines, and whatever other theories.
He seemed like a nice guy, but clueless about site availability, local fishing regulations, other campsites, etc.
Took away one star in rating because I don’t think it’s OK for a Camp Host to be unvaccinated AND always unmasked, walking around talking to folks, especially families with children. My opinion.
Roadtrek Cait would stay here again

First of all, State road 96 is nice and picturesque. The area where the turn in to the campground is, is on a steep curve which makes me nervous. The road going down hill is steep with sharp curves. Big rigs should not use this area. The campground is situated along the Klamath River.

It’s shaded and right along the river and kind of a pretty campground with a host. However the sites are kind of small and you would be right up against your neighbor. Probably not recommended for any large trailer at all. Great for tent camping and day use. No cell service

I came on 03/13/18 and the camp area was closed for another month I believe. Found a awsome camp area about 4 miles further down the road. Free and right next to the river. No cell service.
