A great NF campground and high altitude experience. Nice site availability during the week, we were there in the early part of June and the Transfer Park area wasn't at all busy. It is situated next to the Florida river which seems to be a magnet not only for fisherman but rock climbers as well. There is a special parking area for all you equestrian fans near the Burned Timber trailhead.
Okay, now for the "con" side. On Thursday while we were there, a travel trailer set up camp and started their generator. They also set up their satellite TV antenna. Even though it was against park policy, they ran their generator 24 hours a day until they left, Monday morning. When we approached the camp host, he kindly intervened. The cried "CPAP" machine which allowed them running the generator all night and agreed to not run it during the day. They immediately went back on their word and ran it all day. The camp host took no further action and as such, we were left with a noisy camp. I should also note that this camp loop filled up quickly over the weekend and it was very apparent some people were coming and going without paying.
All of the campsites were clean and well maintained. The bathrooms were very clean as well. We tested our cell service and had NO reception on either ATT or Verizon.
All and all, I would camp here again, just not on the weekends.
The Turtle and The Tiger would stay here again
