Being within walking distance, or a quick shuttle ride away from the Grand Canyon makes this RV park a must! While the sites are small and the facilities aren’t anything fancy, the location simply can’t be beat. We rode our bikes to the Grand Canyon for sunrise and sunset and were there in less than 5 minutes. The RV park was also filled with elk which was fun! There’s definitely not a shortage of hikes and other activities to do in this area. However, if you’re just hoping to check the Grand Canyon off your bucket list like us, 2 days was perfect. We can’t wait to go back and be more adventurous though.

You come here for the location and the FHUs and that's what you get. This is walkable to the south rim, the village, market etc. The shuttle will take you anywhere else you need to be so park your car and enjoy everything there is to enjoy at the Grand Canyon.
The sites are small and have no privacy. The RV park is surrounded by permanent residents in run down RVs and mobile homes but the RV park itself is well kept. This is a very dog friendly place which is unusual for National Parks. Dogs are allowed on all trails that are above the rim.
There is also a paved greenway that navigates through the village and was great for exploring.
The cell service for Tmobile and ATT is non existent. My ATT cell showed 1-2 bars of 3G but when trying to use it, calls failed and data also would not work. Verizon voice was fine but the data speeds were horrible, making it hard to get any work done. During normal hours, the d/l speed was under 1mbps so you could barely surf the net. Forget about streaming. I found that speeds were decent (3-6 mbps d/l) before 7am so if you have to get some work done, get up at 5am to do it. I tried my WeBoost and it didn't help at all.
Don't try to arrive early. They have a very strict no check in before noon policy. The staff has no flexibility on this. I arrived at 10am to avoid predicted 50mph wind gusts and they would not bend at all. Even though plenty of spots were open and I offered to drive around myself to find one they didn't care. I ended up parking the RV at the market for a couple of hours until check in time. They were pretty rude about it as well.
The Grand Canyon itself was amazing. Everyone should see this at least once in their life and being able to stay right in the GC was a huge bonus that made it very easy to overlook the price and other downsides. I would stay here again for the location and the fact that the park served its purpose.
Site accessibility (Very easy to navigate, wide roads) - 4
Campground location (Right in the middle of the Grand Canyon) - 5
Nearby amenities (Onsite small grocery store, more shopping in Tusayan) - 3
Site Privacy (Small sites, no privacy) - 2
Campground amenities (FHU with cable, no other amenities) - 3
Dog friendly (Great hiking trails) - 4
Activities (The Grand Canyon!) - 5
Cost ($45/night for FHU) - 2
Staff friendliness (Not friendly) - 1
Connectivity (No usable ATT, Verizon voice usable but data extremely slow) - 2
Total rating = 3.1

It's full hookup and all about location. Once you're set up you don't even have to drive anywhere. There is a bus stop right at the campground so you can take the Grand Canyon bus transportation to any place within the park. There are many hotels and restaurants that are fun to visit in addition to the main attraction. This is our second time staying here and there is no other place I'd rather stay while visiting this park. Verizon coverage is okay. It looks like we have 4G on the phone but it was extremely slow. When we stayed here 2 years ago Verizon worked much better so I'm not sure why it was so slow this time.

We wanted to stay on one of the forest service roads, but it was getting dark and there was some weather moving in. Fortunately this place had one site available and we took it. Full hook ups are nice but this is just a parking lot.
The shuttle bus was a very nice feature and there are restaurants/stores in walking distance.

Quick walking distance to bathrooms. Showers are located at the other, nearby campground about 1/4 mile away. Walking distance to the shuttle, store, visitors center. Saw mule deer in the morning, grazing away. Saw elk in the park but not at the campground.
Can't beat the location, being so close to everything. Sites are nice, but a bit unlevel. Make sure you have enough leveling blocks with you. We have AT&T and did not get very good service. Barely one bar at the campground but other spots in the park had better service.

While the most obvious draw for Trailer Village is the location (you can walk to the Grand Canyon Visitor Center and South Rim), it's actually a pretty nice campground too. The campground is huge: row after row of pull-through sites, and there was very high turnover. We'd walk our dog in the early afternoon and see the "Campground Full" sign and wonder at the many dozens of empty sites, but by late evening they were all full again, usually with Cruise America, El Monte, or Road Bear rentals. The sites are average in size... don't expect much privacy, but enough space to not feel cramped. Our site was extremely unlevel, and even with all our wood blocks and leveling jacks we could not get level (a first for us) and had to settle for a slightly crooked stay. We saw many other RVs in a similar predicament, though plenty of other sites looked fairly level. Our Verizon hotspot worked well in LTE, and AT&T worked pretty well at 3G. The park shuttle stops at the campground, there's a decent park-run grocery store adjacent to the campground, and lots of trails and paths for dog walking. We saw elk and mule deer in and around the campground almost daily. We paid $36 but a few days after we arrived we saw they changed the sign to read $44. Too bad, $36 was a pretty great rate in our opinion, for full hookups inside a major National Park. If and when we return to Grand Canyon we'll definitely be staying here again.

It's ALL about location here and I don't think you can get much better. This is a pretty basic campground with rows of sites in "private-campground style" arrangement (one RV next to the other) with small gravel "sitting areas", full hookups+cable. No real "extras" here (no laundry, no WiFi, no showers), but you can get all three just down the road in the "camper services" building near Mather Campground. Also, site separation & privacy is so-so, and some sites are definitely closer together than we'd like. However the campground is super quiet and location cannot be beat. Only 1 mile to the rim, walkable from camp along the greenway trail. Plus it's all dog-friendly (incl. all rim trails). We loved the location & peace here, and would certainly come back.
Cellphone signal is very unstable here, so I definitely recommend a booster.

We had a pleasant stay at Trailer Village. It is cheap and convenient. It was nice to be within the park and not have to drive in and out each day, especially since we stayed in the park after dark for the annual Star Party. If you want to see a sunrise over the Grand Canyon, this is the place to stay (we thought this would be really cool, but alas, we were not committed enough to wake up early).

Grand Canyon National Park is simply put one of the most amazing experiences one can invest in. The feeling when you first approach the rim is, and I wouldn’t bamboozle you about something like this, utterly unbelievable until it happens. But of course, you and everyone else already knows that. I, on the other hand, skipped on by this big hole in the ground for years on road trips. I think I thought I was too cool for that school, or something.
I am not.
As for Trailer Village, well it automatically gets points from me simply for having the word “trailer” in it. Anything that alludes to the reality that while we may like to think of ourselves as living nomads, traveling bards, gypsy ambassadors to the hip crusade, in all reality, we are but slightly fancied up slices of American trailer trash (with deep roots to prove it) rolling around on an ever-breaking box on wheels. In fact, were it not for our desperate attempt to separate ourselves from the pack by purchasing a busted up old Airstream, we would probably not even know how to type let alone operate a website.
To be honest, if this park were anywhere else in the world it would probably be just another average place. But the fact that it cost us $32 / night to stay next to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and that every basic necessity was met: from the giant grocery store and cafe with WiFi not half a mile away to the free shuttle service Grand Canyon National Park provides.
Oh, and shooting stars beamed down over our heads on a nightly basis. Seriously, I started to wonder if Disney bought the rights to Grand Canyon and was adding a little extra movie magic.
