Some (like ours) even have nearby shade trees. The sites are close but staggered to allow some sense of privacy. We arrived to discover there had been a mixup in our reservation date. The desk staff was very helpful in allowing us to occupy a cancelled space. The campsite is in comfortable biking distance from the main park attractions and the convenient park shuttle bus to all others stops next to the camp entrance booth. We had a terrific 2-day visit and would recommend this RV park to any visitors who want a comfortable GCNP experience.

Trailer Village has two kinds of sites - premier and not so premier. The difference is $10/night and we sprang for the 50' long premium site. We had a paved pull-thru ( pretty much all sites are pull-thru) and full hookups. All the sites in these rows are sharply angled pull-thrus and the tree branches were not a problem on Row C. Parking was simple and we used 2 boards to level side-to-side. There was also no difficulty with the location of our electric, water or sewer. The site had a dirty, rusty grill on a stand, which we had no use for, and a wood picnic table. There are no fire rings or patio here.
Check-in is "different" - you have to pull well past the office towards a sign that says school bus stop and park there, then walk back to the office where they will assign you your site and take payment for the remainder of your bill. Trailer village has restrooms but no showers. For showers and laundry you go to the nearby Mather Campground, which is cheaper, no hookups, and more like a state park layout. The drive up 64 is two lane for the most part with a few very small towns along the way.
Fuel (including diesel) is available at an Exxon in Tusayan (South Entrance) or Chevron at Desert View at the East Entrance.
Two of our nights we had Elk visit the greenway near the Restroom building, near our site C13. Also so many hike along the roads, a coyote along a greenway, and a wild horse out on 64. Ravens are all over the campsite looking for scraps.
If we were coming back here again, I would not hesitate to stay here for the value of the location. If I had a smaller, 30' or less camper, and could get by without hookups, then Mather Campground would be fine too.
We visited there for 4 nights in mid April. Temps were in the 70's daytime and 30's to 40's overnight.
Try to fit a drive out to Desert View, different views of the canyon and the Colorado River and less visitors. Many pull offs and viewing points along the way. It's a 2 lane road and is quite twisty as you approach the end. The Watchtower is closed, but all the other locations there are open. (Market, Trading Post, Gas station)
The main Visitor Center near the Bike Shop and Mather Point was closed. Information is posted outside on bulletin boards.
There is a hike we found on a website that wasn't mentioned in official publications - Google Shoshone Point trail. It is east of the village off of 64 and has a small parking lot and a level, 1 mile hike, through Ponderosa Pines. Ends up at the Rim of the Canyon, then go left (west) and you will come to a picnic grove with tables and a fire ring.
El Tovar breakfast doesn't require a reservation and food was delicious - coffee too. Show up at 7 or you will have a long wait.
Try to see a sunrise or sunset and during inclement weather the colors really popped on the canyon walls and clouds were dramatic.
Biking on the greenway trails was excellent!
Market Plaza grocery was fully stocked, no worries about leaving for food.
Post office next door to grocery will accept General Delivery and the counter service was friendly.

You really have to reserve ahead on these spots and sometimes plan your trip around an opening if you really want to be inside the park. As others have said, great location but pricey. Walking trails all around and groceries nearby. Found it to be quiet and easy to get in and out of. The hookups were fine. Definitely would do this again.

But having full hookups inside the National Park where you can ride the shuttle bus from right at the front of the campground is worth it. And you're inside the park - we were greeted my an Elk, grazing next to our site. She returned several times and pretty much dared vehicles to bother her :-).
The Utilities were all solid.
The staff that checked is in was a little abrupt, not rude, just not overly talkative or helpful. But I'm sure the staff rotates and you won't have the same experience.

Beware, there are 2 types of sites. “”Classic” means crappy. The other sites are paved and decent. The classic sites are the former employee housing sites where they’ve cleared away the old trailers. Our first site was so bad I could not level our TT with nearly 6”. The sewer had no cover and was just an open pipe. The electric is 50/20a only, so you need an adaptor for 30a. The bathroom was non functional so there were only portables. The trash cans were small and packed full most of the time.
I go here again for the convenience, but not at a classic site.

We stayed here October 24-30. We hadn't planned to go to the Grand Canyon thinking it would be too cold and potentially snowy, but new friends along the way convinced us it was doable. We checked for camping availability about 4 days before we wanted to be there and Trailer Village could accommodate us. It was easy to hike or bike from the campground and it was very convenient to go back mid day or mid afternoon to regroup before sunset activities. We had elk wandering through the campground each morning, and entertainment from a raven who stole and old labrador retriever's tennis ball (he got it back). So Trailer Village was pretty entertaining in and of itself. We biked through Mather Campground mid stay and decided when we go back again we will stay there because we liked the camping ambience and found access was just as convenient from there. Think Trailer Village = RV park, Mather = camping.

This is the best place for RVers who want full hookups IN the Grand Canyon NP. Elk roam through everyday! Gas and groceries are expensive in the area. Stock up before getting to the park! Worth the $$$. Book months ahead of time. I worked in the mornings fine with ATT hot spot. Verizon cell service is great too.

Very close to the Grand Canyon rim and lots of walking/biking trails. There is a shuttle stop right at the entrance (easy walking distance from any site) that will take you all around the park. Grocery store is also very close.
We are looking forward to returning.

The location is the best thing about this park. Other things not so much. Not all sites are paved and the gravel one we got was pretty uneven making it hard to level. Check in was easy and the cost wasn't bad for being right in the Park. It was easy to walk to the Rim and other places in the park.
