The campground is nestled in a small valley with a river. The shower house is good with the bathrooms and showers on opposite sides of the building, two showers per gender. There are only 20 sites, all with 30/50 amp and water hookups with a dump at the entrance. We were there over Memorial Day weekend and it was full, but still quiet and relaxing. All the sites are asphalt and pretty level. There is a playground for the kids and a boat slip. Half of the sites are on the river. The hostess is great, she worked with us to overcome the only issue we had. There is no cell phone reception on AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint.
Now for the rest of the story - the campground has two loops, the front loop sites are good sized (able to park the 33 foot RV and Jeep), decently spaced apart with a picnic table and fire ring and small grass area between sites. The back loop sites are smaller and closer together without much grass between sites. The tightness of the spacing leads to the road being partially blocked by cars. We originally had one of the back spaces, and our RV took all of it plus a bit of overhang on the road. The hostess moved us to the front to a site we fit in. And now the reason we wont be back - we went through Krypton, KY and the last 3 or 4 miles are on a road that is not for the faint of heart. It is a two way mountain road, barely wider than our RV, with a couple really tight turns. Tight turn as in a U-turn. There is another shorter route (From Hal Rogers Parkway, via River Road) that our GPS labeled “Not RV Friendly” that we totally agree with after driving it with our Jeep. Also be aware of low branches on both routes.
N.Plummer would stay here again
