The Tortilla Flats area is awesome and is worth spending a few days enjoying the scenery, lakes, hiking, off roading, etc. The FS campground is great, has good folks for hosts and with well kept facilities, is a good place to camp. The road from Apache Junction has some tight curves but lanes are reasonable width so not too nerve wracking. The only detraction for us was the road noise, especially the motorcycles on weekends. Water and sewer at most sites. All but a very few sites are FCFS. Pretty much all back in sites are manageable, level and allow for angled back in. Campground has dump station with water but water hose has the usual fitting with nonusable end. Also if using solar, the sun goes behind the mountain by 5 at the latest depending on which row you’re on. Probably 6 hours of good sun at most.

The park was easy to find. It is located off of Arizona Route 88 just before the very little settlement of Tortilla Flat. There is pavement all the way including in the park. Signage is adequate. Check in was Self Serve Machine. (A Camp Host will stop by to confirm.)The rules are fairly basic. Be aware, Highway 88 from Apache Junction is very narrow and winding. If you are not comfortable with your Big Rig you might want to reconsider. There are 40 footers in the park though.
Our site, 63, was a back in that was long enough for our Coach and wide enough Towed. Services (NO POWER but water and sewer) were to the left side. Distancing is very reasonable. Most sites have a tree or shrub as a vegetation barrier. Each site has a table and a fire pit. Our site was flat but sloped to the rear. Overall the park was pretty and well manicured.
Our Verizon internet would not allow us to connect to the internet. Apparently the tower is owned by AT&T and will not allow a competitor to connect. We did find a few OTA TV. Satellite might be difficult because of the terrain. We did not use the “Flush Toilet” washrooms but we checked and found them clean.
There is a marked trail that runs across the wash (creek if has recently rained) that leads up to a peak above the Campground. There are other hiking trails accessible from along the Apache Trail. There is a very small store and restaurant in the small settlement of Tortilla Flat but most services will be found in Apache Junction.
We found this park to be a well run campground. We paid $20.00 per night and we feel we received good value. We will be back if in the area again. Be advised, this is a very popular park and fills up on occasion. Only a very few sites are available to reserve. The vast majority are first come first served.

There is alot to do around the campground. Tortilla Flat is just outside of the campground. They have stores, dining and live entertainment. (Great ice cream cones too!). Canyon Lake is close by. Make sure you go on the Dolly steamboat tour. (Reservations are needed) It holds great scenery and sightings of big horn sheep and eagles, among other wildlife. Goldfield Ghost Town was a great place to visit. It is an old western town with gunfights. Great if you want the old west feel.
The roads are VERY winding. If you have a large rig, make sure you go slow.

Sites are large, with water and sewer, fine gravel surface. Most sites are nearly level. No electric; you will hear generators. Beautiful location. Closes in summer.

Camp hosts are wonderful! Close to Tortilla Flat and also a beautiful but CURVY road down to Apache Junction for all of your shopping needs. Can’t say enough…. Will definitely come back again and again 😉❤️

Stayed one night during my Phoenix trip to watch MLB Cactus League games. Would have enjoyed staying a few more nights and exploring nearby hiking and lake activities. Beautiful scenic drive to the campground, quaint Old West vibe at the nearby saloon and general store. Campground had beautiful scenery, and was quiet and friendly! The host, Cliff, made me feel at home and the campers next to me offered to make me some dinner and share fire wood. Had no cell service on Verizon with my iPhone 12. Looking forward to returning on a future trip.

The view are amazing! A hidden jem with access to hiking, great star gazing and a short walk to Tortilla Flat! Sites are for rigs less than 30 ft and they have water and sewer at each site.

Enough cannot be said about the beauty of this area. Just 2 miles down the windy road from Canyon Lake, Tortilla Campground has the most friendly hosts! They ride their golf cart around the loop, dog in tow, and give out smiles and cheer. The sites were FF and we arrived Saturday evening with 3 sites remaining. Each site is very spacious with wonderful views. Partial hookups and restrooms available. It seems the campground is only open November - March, but even in the dead of January the temperatures were wonderful (mid-70's). The cell reception was very poor to non-existant, which is the only reason we chose to depart this campground after the weekend. Tortilla Flat has a population of 6 and the town is a charmer, complete with a few small shops, restaurants, and a tiny museum. It's about a 30 minute drive to Dutchman State Park. Highly recommend and look forward to returning one day!

Small campground with water and sewer. No electric. Friendly camp hosts keep it clean and tidy. Loud partying is not allowed.
There is a paved road to get to the campground from Apache Junction. The many switchbacks may discourage some big rigs. Canyon Lake is a short drive away for swimming, boating, and fishing. Lots of hiking trails nearby.
It is in a national forest so senior rates apply if you have the card.
