We tried to hook up to 30amp outlet and found it was upside down. We talked with Ranger Jacob and was told the problem would probably be resolved in the summer when they pave the roads. He seemed very disinterested in our problem or trying to help us. We stayed two nights and canceled two nights. The following day I saw Ranger Brian and told him about the problem and he offered to fix the problem right away which he did. We also went on the house tour with him and he was terrific. The campground is okay, not great but Brian should definitely get promoted.

Lots of hiking, good for small kids biking in the campground loop, but no bike trails.

Dozens on my dog and many on me despite precautions.

We stayed here for 3 nights in early May, 2023. As others have said, there is hurricane damage to the trees and they have not fully recovered. New trees have been planted for some division between sites. Our site was just a back in on the grass without much division between us and the one in front of our trailer door (watched that guy back in to the electrical post - yikes). Go to the CCC building to check in with the ranger and then grab your site. I averaged the nightly cost over our stay. It was hot and we had been warned about ticks on the trails by the ranger and a couple I talked to. They both found ticks on them and their dog, so we did not hike the trails. I did walk to the plantation house, but hot walking back in May. Did not do the tour, but it looked interesting. Shower was nice - laundry nice too! Was able to watch The Kentucky Derby on TV - some friends were there, so was fun to watch. The view behind our trailer was beautiful - reminded us of Northern Costa Rica!

However, the area was hit hard and heavily damaged during a hurricane Michael a few years ago and hasn’t recovered in terms of scenery and trails. My best description is the hiking terrain was ‘inhospitable and unforgivable.’ Ranger told us it was once a lush and pretty area. It is no more with downed trees, smashes brush and no scenic views. Will take decades to recover.

We were part of a Trail Maintenance work crew and stayed in the campground, Site 9. Ours was one of the 2 paved sites so enjoyed having a little less dirt to track in the camper. Solid picnic table and in ground fire pit/grill at each site. The bathrooms are SPOTLESS and heated in the cooler months. Rangers and hosts were wonderful and checked in on the crew many times. Always had 2 or 3 bars on both ATT and T Mobile with several TV channels. As mentioned there isn’t much to do which is part of the attraction. The trees are on the mend and in a few years the foliage will be back between the sites. Aluminum recycling near the dumpster which is always appreciated.

We like parks that are not close to cities so this park was perfect for us and we do plan to visit again. There is not much to do in the park except relax. Trails are too strenuious for seniors and as another posted - watch out for the copperhead snakes. The staff was very friendly and informative. The park is still in recovery from Hurricane Michael in 2018 - this park was beat up bad. Most of the sites were level with only a few having a hump in the center of the site. The sites with the humps were a little tight on the sides and depth. This park had the best cell service compared to the other near by state parks. Price is senior rate.

Small campground but well maintained and clean. The restroom and showers are old but still in good condition and very clean. Sites are nice sized. Its a little way off I-10 but worth it.

Not too much distance or foliage between sites, so limited privacy. But the laid back nature of the campers made it very relaxing and chill. Ranger super sweet and cool. You can still see some of the Hurricane Michael damage but it’s definitely recovering. Trails are also legit hiking trails - relatively undeveloped, dirt, muddy at times, narrow in some areas, buggy (ticks), snakes, very cool. Torreya loop trail is moderate (steep ups and downs, creek and tree crossings) and good hiking shoes and long pants (some thorny areas) a must. We did not do the second loop trail called the Torreya challenge. Sign at its entrance describes it as arduous taking 6 hrs for 6 miles.
