Question about Tonopah Dispersed Camping

Is this area wide enough and is the ground firm enough to turn around in? I am a 36' gas Class A flat towing a car. Turning radius is close to 4 lanes for a U turn.

Like the others said, definitely firm enough for sure. You will be driving over sage brush and other ground cover to do it. I am a full size Tundra pulling a 20’ trailer and we had no problems. You can get adventurous and drive more off the old road or just stay near it and you should find something that will work for you. Have fun.

It has been a while since we stayed there. We disconnected our toad and drove the area first to assess the ground condition. At that time it was firm enough. If I recall we may have done a 3-pt turn with a little reversing but found a spot for our 39 foot. We’ve also stayed at Tonopah station just down the way but I think it’s first come first serve so we timed our arrival and had a nice dinner.

I can't make any prediction for your setup. We however can make u turn with full size F350 loaded with 40' 5th wheel without backing for correction. We have never had a problem ground BUT there is so much use it is very dusty. We have seen Class As drop their T vehicle and turn around at the crest of the hill (the widest spot) and come back to get level. It is our "go to" spot to and from AZ every year. Oh I hope it stays that way!!! It is surprisingly tidy (well as of April 2021). It is conveniently near Fuel, restaurant, and tiny store. Hope this helps. Safe Travels
