This was our second stay at this campground. The first time was in May of this year at the beginning of our 6 month journey and it seemed fitting to visit again on our return home. The park is older and a bit worn but well cared for. As with our first visit the park rangers were very helpful and friendly. As has been mentioned previously it is an out of the way location but that is one of the things that we enjoy. We did not make use of the trails this time as it was very wet and rainy but we did enjoy the trails when we were here in May. Verizon Service was adequate for texting and phone but that was fine with us as well. Excellent little campground for getting away from the noise for a while.

We were only here for one night as a stopover from driving the Natchez Trace to heading home to Florida. It was quite a bit off the beaten track - lots of winding country roads to get there. Made for an interesting drive but wasn’t the convenient stop we thought it would be. We arrived 10 minutes before the stated closing of the ranger station, but all was closed and locked. No rangers to be seen. Therefore we didn’t get any info on the park, its amenities or possible activities. We walked down to the lake and out on the dock. It’s a very pretty setting, but that dock should have been condemned. There were rotted boards, boards missing, and the whole dock was very wobbly. The bath house was clean, but without ventilation. There appeared to be several rigs that were settled in for longer than a vacation, but everyone we encountered at the campground was friendly. Someone warned us not to leave any trace of food outside because the raccoons were very active. All was quiet overnight. We were up and out in the morning before we saw any rangers. No major complaints, but not someplace we would return.

We have camped here three times in the past year, mainly because it's close to where we live, but also because it's just a nice campground. All 20 of the RV sites have electricity and water, and all but 2 also have sewer hookups. The pads are pretty close to level, most are long enough to fit large Class A's and 5th-wheels. There are a few sites occupied by long-term guests, but the sites are well-maintained.
The campground is located on a good-sized lake that offers fishing opportunities. There are a couple of frisbee golf courses, hiking trails and a new bike trail. There are also several tent-only sites, a group camping area and several cabins for rent.
This campground has been "adopted" by Toyota Corporation (they have a big manufacturing plant in the area), and Toyota has invested a lot of money in upgrades and maintenance to the facilities. Therefore, this campground looks a little nicer than some of the other state parks in the area which are going through budget issues.
We love Tombigbee, and will continue to camp here on a regular basis until we go fulltime later this year.
NOTE: Our nightly rate included the senior discount.

If this park gets Wifi at the visitor center and fixes the women's shower it will be 5 stars. What a friendly and wonderful place it is. There are miles of hiking trails, 2 disc golf course (reputed to be the best in the area) fishing, kayaking, and a great staff. We stayed here in our MoHo and our site was right next to the shower/laundry facility and it was Spring Break but we were never bothered by noise and by dark the place was silent. But, we also went up to the tent camping area and what a fabulous place that is! They have just redone it-tent platform with eye hooks for tie downs, a fire ring with 2 benches AND a swinging double chair, poles for 2 hammocks and a grill and picnic table on a patio.
The only problem with it was the lack of connectivity which persists pretty much all the way into Tupelo. Even boosted we had weird reception that was almost cyclical-we'd be OK for about 5 min and then nothing for another length or time then it would come up again. Never experienced that before and the visitor center was no better. The campground manager came around doing a survey while we were there and said e's been asking for WiFi. We told him that in our experience that CG WiFi is pretty iffy in general but having a spot at the visitor center where people can go would improve things a lot.

Woke up this morning in Tombigbee to a frozen city water line. Had no idea it was going to get below freezing here. Good news it will warm up quickly and, I hope, thaw the hose to the trailer. The state park is large but only has a small campground of twenty sites. All are full service except for two. Fifty, thirty, and twenty amp electric service that was updated probably two or three years ago. We lucked out and got the best site (number 12) if you are looking for privacy and a view of the woods instead of your neighbors. It is quite hilly here so hiking the wooded trails will be a bit demanding. The restroom and shower facility is clean and nice. We will be running into Tupelo this morning to get supplies at a Walmart. If you need to stay in an RV park this one fits the bill.
***next day update*** We had a great hike through the wooded trails yesterday. Meandering along the shoreline of a rather large inland lake and up and down hills clearly marked with wooden arrows attached to large oak trees. The walk lasted under an hour but it was a good workout with many resting areas with a view along the trail.

Our site was level, and it looked like most were. The lake looks great, but we didn't have a chance to check it out. The first visit our GPS brought us in from the west by MS-6 and RD1050. This worked just fine. The second time it brought us in from the east and the roads would be a real challenge at night or with a larger RV.

We spent one night here on our way home in Florida from Alaska. The $15 was the senior rate for a full hookup site. Mostly level asphalt pad and asphalt roads. Nice helpful ranger. Clean restrooms and showers. Very quiet. We recommend this campground.

Tupelo has several interesting sights - rhe Elvis Birthplace, and a fabulous automobile museum. The Brice's crossroads battlefield was cool too. This is a good place to chill. Krogers has organic produce and there is a sweet health food market.
Att cell is horrible, although my partner's phone connected better than mine.
