Stayed in phase 2. Sites are nicer, restrooms are good, not a bad park, we have no complaints. I wouldn’t want to stay in phase 1. Sites are close no space. Good location to explore the area

We stayed at birch bay with our thousand trails membership due to the easy access to Canada. We had a site very close to the front and pulled through rather than backed in since both sites were vacant. We didn’t spend much time at the campground, but the bathrooms and other facilities were very clean.

Very clean restrooms, clean and quiet pool area with great sun/shade options. Lots pet-friendly areas. Overall good location for beach fun. The sites themselves are not so desirable. Because it is first come first serve sites, there were few options for backing into without literally being on top of your neighbor (not enough room to even put out our awning). Many were parked wonky, making it difficult to get a decent site. Because of this, we parked on the grass to give our neighbor space. We were talked to twice about being on the grass even though they could see the predicament and could not offer suggestions besides “get as uncomfortably close as possible”. They said it was fine then that we were on the grass but proceeded to tell us again. Our friends had a similar issue on this same trip. They got approval from the office to park nose-in first related to limited back in spaces with usable space. They were talked to multiple times after this as well. Communication could be improved among staff/shifts. Overall ok for stopping through but we would not make this a destination place again unless you don’t plan to spend much time at camp.

This campground is divided into 2 sections: phase 1 and phase 2. The phase 1 part is much older and the electrical posts/water connections are bunched together at every 4 sites. This means you have to drag your cable & hoses under the RV to connect if the site ends in an odd number. What a pain! On a positive note, phase 1 has some large trees so the shade is better. We targeted the phase 2 side and ended up in pull-through full hookup site #248. The site was level and it even had a picnic table, but no tree shade. There is a large children's playtoy nearby so things got a bit loud at times, but it wasn't overbearing by any means. Phase 2 restrooms were clean and well-maintained. We also liked the separate exit on the phase 2 side. Laundry is available and it is $2.00 to both wash and dry. Unfortunately the laundry room has no air conditioning so it becomes a blazing inferno on hot days. Our AT&T and Verizon phones had 1 bar each and both were painfully slow. We purchased the optional paid campground wifi for 1 day and it was decent. Free wifi in the Activity Center is really bad. Staff was very kind and helpful. Recycling is available onsite.

The park has an awesome “forest” in between phases 1 and 2 my kids made so many friends and memories over our few weeks here!
Laundry room was clean and machines always available. They have a machine so you can use your card, made things Easy.
Phase 1 was shady but phase 2 had more space and it was quiet.
Lots to do in the surrounding area, beach, Mt. Baker, Bellingham, Seattle are close enough to visit!
Staff is very strict on the 5mph speed limit .. they might tell you 10x at check in but it’s good overall for the kids.

We enjoyed our one week stay at Birch Bay. This Thousand Trails park has large sites and 2 loops. One loop is more shade and the other is pretty much out in the open.
There is a clubhouse, pool, clean bathrooms, laundry on site, ice and a small store are a few of the nice amenities this campground offers. This park is also close to the beach for swimming and other water fun.
There is no dog park within the campground and dogs must be kept on a leash. We took our dog to a local dog park near Blaine or to the beach. However, there is a nice walking path that we walked her on within the park.
This is a nice park for big rigs like us, large pull-through sites and wide roads help when parking the rig. Full hookups are also a bonus! It was quiet during the week we were there, although it was pretty full by the weekend. You can even face your friend's camper if camping together.
Cell service was limited to Verizon and AT&T in the park. T-Mobile worked in town.

The sites can be a bit close together, and the central hookups for 4 sites would be annoying if all sites were full, fortunately they were not for our visit so it was all very good. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff and a number of activities on site. Definitely worth heading in to Birch Bay, and down to the State park too for some beach front open space. Close to Bellingham if you need any supplies, and decent access into Vancouver.

It's pretty close (short bike/walk) to Birch Bay which has a couple nice little restaurants and hangout place. Sunsets are worth the walk.
There are two areas, one with trees, one without. We stayed in the trees.
The sites are setup in a 4-plex so you're right next to other campers, but otherwise the sites are a reasonable size. No real privacy between sites.
It costs money at this park for visitors to come in. Kind of awkward when trying to have family in the area visit.
Cell Access is limited, but with a booster I was able to work and use video conferencing for meetings.
