Not many options in Ouray when you arrive without a plan. Didn't need a campground, just a place to stay the night. This is a very small campground, lots of OHV, jeep, tents that appear to use it. Not many options in Ouray when you arrive without a plan. Didn't need a campground, just a place to stay the night. This is a very small campground, lots of OHV, jeep, tents that appear to use it. We were able to get site one just as the previous tent campers were leaving. It is probably best for tent camping, but we managed to get our 24ft B+ snug in there and had a great night! There is a lot of traffic on the main road and people driving in to see if any spots are available, but that is part of the NFS experience. Roof mounted Starlink worked but dropped often due to trees we were under.

Site 2 is the best. It does have trash and pit toilets. Camp host was never there. Only 20$ a night but always full. Lots of road traffic with 4x4s and dirt bikes. Host should sit out campground full sign. He never checks the posts for tickets.

Fabulous small National Forrest campground
right off the access road, $10 per night. The
views here are stunning with jagged mountains
peaks surrounding you, a raging river only 80 feet from site #2. I'm here early and only two sites are accessible with snow covering the other four. There are bear boxes, picnic tables and fire pits for each site, plus a leveled area for tents. I snuck in here in my 32 foot Skoolie, a bit tricky but doable. The views from my roof top deck are amazing. There's little to no Verizon service, but my Starlink satellite internet is penetrating the trees, at least from site #2. Highly recommended! Bring bear spray. Please carry out all trash, we want these perfect campsite to last forever. Thank you National Forrest service, we sincerely
appreciate your work.

Just wanted to post this in case anyone else was counting on free. Oh, and the hill up is pretty steep. Lots of downshifting. If you park down by the river the scenery is worth looking at, there's a sweet little trail or two.
